In the August 25 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Katie cornered Dylan yet again over her feelings for Will. Catching Dylan at the beach house after a night with her son gave Katie the excuse she needed to unleash her disapproval.

But watching Katie grill a younger woman looks liess like maternal concern and more like unresolved trauma. Katie knew what it felt like to be judged, criticized, and put down by Brooke. Yet, instead of learning from her situation, she turned it around and used those same bullying tactics on Dylan. Katie has smoke for the wrong person, and her hypocrisy was on full display today.

Key Takeaways

  • Katie hates being judged by Brooke, yet she turns around and treats Dylan the exact same way.
  • Instead of dealing with her issues or respecting Will’s decisions, Katie takes her frustration out on a younger woman.
  • Katie spotted breakfast for two at the beach house, while Dylan stepped out of the shower.

Katie’s Ambush at the Beach House

The morning started out on a high note at the beach house for Will (Crew Morrow) and Dylan (Sydney Bullock). They finally spent the night together, and they clearly wanted to ride the high of the new feelings between them.

But it didn’t last long. After waking up in Will’s bed, Dylan jumped into the shower while Will made breakfast for two. Katie (Heather Tom) showed up unannounced and immediately picked up on the signs that her son wasn’t alone.

When Dylan stepped out of the bathroom, Katie didn’t hesitate. She used the opportunity to corner Dylan and confront her once again about her intentions with Will. Instead of allowing her adult son to make his own decisions, Katie marked her territory, making Dylan feel unwelcome.

The Brooke Logan Effect

Katie’s aggressive stance toward Dylan is hard to watch because of where it stems from. For years, Katie complained about being overshadowed and picked on by her older sister, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang).

She knows what it’s like to be treated like you’re not good enough for anyone else. Yet, Katie is doing the exact same thing to Dylan.

Rather than rising above the toxic behavior, she immediately passed it down to another young woman. She’s projecting her bitterness and insecurities onto Dylan, who doesn’t deserve it.

Katie Targets the Wrong Woman

Katie wanted to act as if she were protecting Will from getting hurt. However, her reaction today went beyond normal maternal instinct. Picking a fight with Dylan gives Katie a target she can control. She cannot stand up to Brooke without spiraling, so she takes her anger out on Dylan instead.

Harassing Dylan won’t fix Katie’s complicated dynamic with her sister, nor will it keep Will closer to her. It just makes her look hypocritical and overbearing.

If Katie doesn’t check her behavior soon, her need for control could drive away Will for good. Katie might be up for an even bigger fight with Dylan’s mom entering the fray this week.
