The Bold and the Beautiful recap for January 6-10, 2020, features Liam and Steffy channeling their inner Thomas and a fed-up Hope making a decision with major repercussions. Oh, and Brooke and Ridge having the same old, same old conversation.

The Bold and the Beautiful Recap Highlights

Having spent weeks decrying Thomas’ (Mathew Atkinson) blatant manipulation of Hope (Annika Noelle), Liam (Scott Clifton) decided that the best way to rectify the situation was to…manipulate Hope.

With the stage set for a romantic interlude — flowers, lit candles, etc. — Liam popped the question. Well, he didn’t so much pop the question as he did exasperatedly throw himself onto bended knee and beg her to become his wife. Again!

But, before Hope could respond, Liam revealed that it came with a few conditions. Number one, no more collaborating with Thomas on Hope For The Future. Acceptable. Number two, she must relinquish custody of Douglas. Unsurprisingly, that’s the ask that Hope had a real problem with.

And, since he possesses the power of perfect timing, who should walk in and interrupt the ultimatum — pardon, proposal — but the very man whom Liam is begging his perspective bride to be to stay away from.

Because he is the smartest (and craziest) person in every room he walks in to, Thomas was able to deduce that Liam asked Hope to marry him AND that strings were attached. In response to having been read like an open book, Liam shoved his rival — how very mature.

Thomas begged Hope not to throw their son to the curb, Hope told Liam it was a no-go and a petulant Liam walked out the door. Hmmm, emotional manipulation. Maybe Liam and Thomas are more alike then we realized.

Liam and Thomas: The Dark Side

Liam made a beeline for Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and spent the night on the couch. Thomas managed to sneak onto Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) property — despite the home’s entrance having a full-time guard — and eavesdropped on Hope telling her mother that she had decided to accept Liam’s proposal — if they could come to an understanding about Douglas.

When he also learned that Liam was at Chez Steffy, he called his sister and managed to manipulate her into making a play for Liam. So, right as Hope arrived on the scene, Steffy pulled Liam into a kiss, ensuring that they were caught in the act.

Hope, not to put too fine a point on it, was pissed! In fact, she let Liam know that she was D.O.N.E with him and his waffling between her and Steffy. He was welcome to his (other) former wife because she isn’t interested in being one side of another triangle. Another triumph for Thomas. The man might be a psychopath but he’s a winning psychopath.

B&B Musings

Steffy: “I wish she was here.” Of course, you do Steffy. We all miss Taylor and wish she were there. In fact, her absence from the canvas during her son’s reign of terror has been a great, big gaping plot hole from the start

Another week, another conversation — make that heated discussion — between Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) over whether or not they can possibly get back together again in the face of Brooke’s deep and abiding fear and loathing for her stepson.

And yet again, Ridge insisted that Thomas was not a dangerous person despite knowing, with absolute certainty, that his son is responsible for the death of Emma Barber. Talk about commitment to a cause. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
