Her run may have meant to be temporary, but by the time The Bold and the Beautiful revealed that Katrina Bowden’s Flo Fulton as the daughter of the late Storm Logan it was clear that the half-hour soap had plans for both Flo and the actress who portrays her.
Katrina Bowden As Flow on B&B
Not being able to connect with her aunts has weighed heavily on Flo. The closest she’s come to attending Logan family functions is the fact that her kidney is inside Katie (Heather Tom)!
Until recently, Flo hid her disappointment well. Playful and light on the outside, Flo was hurting deeply inside, which didn’t go unnoticed by her beau, Wyatt (Darin Brooks).
For her performance as a vulnerable woman longing to be welcomed into her family, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week BB honors on Katrina Bowden.
When Flo showed up at the Forrester Creations executive office, she was surprised to see her aunts, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and Katie, all assembled. She again apologized for keeping quiet about baby Beth being alive and asked for another chance.
Flo was overwhelmed with tears and emotions after Katie and Donna said they were willing to give Flo a break. Then, a teary Flo knew that she had to win Brooke over; she did so by putting her heart on her sleeve one more time.
A Performance to Remember
Soaps are filled with manipulative characters shedding crocodile tears, but Flo’s emotions were heartfelt, played with honesty and heart by Bowden.
The Logans believe Flo is sincere. Heck, even Bill (Don Diamont) across town was saying that Flo had done her penance while Flo was meeting with her aunts. Flo comes off more sincere as she doesn’t play the “I gave Katie a kidney” card or point out other lies of omissions that other Logan women have made. (Brooke, remember that time you withheld Caroline’s letter to Ridge? Flo’s actions, arguably more severe, came after Beth was kidnapped.)
Whether Brooke was recalling her own past mistakes or not, she did join her sisters in agreeing to move towards the future and be more accepting of Flo. How could she not give Flo’s sincere plea? Not only did Flo’s dream of acceptance come true, but she was also offered a position at Forrester alongside Katie in public relations.
As one half of the stable couple on BB (Flo and Wyatt are mostly conflict-free), but last week’s episodes gave Bowden a chance to shine as Flo was finally accepted into the family fold. Now that Flo’s even more integrated into the show, we can’t wait to see what Bowden does next! The Bold and the Beautiful weekdays on CBS. Check your local listing for air times.
