Alley Mills currently plays the sister of the late Stephanie Forrester, Pamela Douglas, on The Bold and the Beautiful, a role she has had since 2006. Mills has also been on shows such as Teachers, The Wonder Years, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and many others throughout her career.
While some actors find their passion for TV, film, and theater a bit later in life, Mills started acting as a child. From where she went to college to her most iconic role, here are five fast facts you need to know about The Bold and the Beautiful star.
In The Beginning
Mills was born May 9 in Chicago, Illinois, but she grew up in New York. Her father, Ted Mills, was a television executive and her mother, Genevieve, was an editor for American Heritage Magazine. Mills began college at Bennington College in Vermont but ended up attending Yale. In fact, she was one of their very first female undergraduates.
Jumped Across The Pond
Following college, Mills went to England to receive her Masters from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Once she got her degree, she returned to New York to work in theater. She then decided to drive all the way from New York to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
Television Debut
One of Mills’ first TV appearances was in 1979 when she was cast as Leslie Dunn on the short-lived show The Associates, which starred comedian legend Martin Short and future Murphy Brown star Joe Regalbuto and was created by the legendary James L. Brooks.
Iconic Role
To the general public, Mills is best known for playing Norma Arnold, the matriarch of the Arnold family on The Wonder Years for all six seasons. The show was obviously an incredibly huge hit and went on the win a number of Primetime Emmy Awards.
Getting Personal
Mills married actor Orson Bean in 1993. Bean is known for his very long acting career, including Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman as well as the films Being John Malkovich and Innerspace.
