The Bold and the Beautiful seamlessly wove a family into the canvas years ago and integrated them in the fabric of the half-hour show. The clan has added greatly to the tapestry of the show, but lately, they’ve shifted to the backburner.
We’re talking about the Avants, who we haven’t seen much of lately. Do you miss seeing them on the show?
The Bold and the Beautiful: Other Platforms
Most of you, 66%, to be exact, say you don’t miss them. Again, the double-edged sword of BB is that it’s only a half-hour show and it has such rich characters like the Avants, but there’s just not enough air time for everyone.
One reason you may not miss them is that you can see them on other shows! Obba Babatundé, who won a Daytime Emmy for his role as conflicted patriarch Julius, recurs as Daniel Harrison, Sr. — Shemar Moore’s (Hondo) TV dad — on S.W.A.T.
He also has seven (!) other upcoming projects he’s shooting or has recently completed. Emmy-nominee Reign Edwards (Nicole) is currently filming the pilot The Wilds.
Her TV husband Rome Flynn (Zende) stars in the final season of How To Get Away With Murder. Emmy nominee Anna Maria Horsford (Vivienne) recurs on the Tracy Morgan sitcom The Last O.G. on TBS.
Avant Allies
Nearly 34% of The Bold and the Beautiful fans say that yes, you do miss the Avants and want them back. There’s tons of story potential with them. After splitting from Rick (Jacob Young), Maya (Karla Mosley) returned to Los Angeles, but she’s been simmering on the backburner since then.
Perhaps it’s time to rekindle her love life with the underused Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). That, along with Rick’s return, has the potential to thrust the clan onto the front-burner once more.
Showdowns between Julius and Vivienne always make for dramatic moments. And, once How To Get Away With Murder wraps up, Flynn may be available to pop back in with Edwards as Nicole.
And The Rest
There were a few votes for “other” — saying that you’d like to definitely see more of Maya. As she’s already on the canvas, albeit in the background, it’d make the most sense to give her some screen-time. Stay tuned to see what happens next. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS.
