Two-time Daytime Emmy-winner Jacqueline MacInnes Wood continues to shine in her current storyline in which her character, Steffy Forrester Finnegan, is recovering from a devastating loss. For playing Steffy’s response to husband Finn’s death, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors on Wood.

Amnesia or memory loss stories tend to play out for months on soap operas. So, we were pleasantly surprised when Dr. Bridget Forrester (Ashley Jones) shared with Steffy’s family that she was ready to learn the truth about her shooting. Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), Steffy’s ex, whom she was leaning on, gently and supportively broke the news to his former wife that she had a son and another husband Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan).

“Finn…Finn…FINN…! I remember!! I remember Finn! My husband…Hayes, my son,” Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s Steffy emotionally shared as symphonic music cues scored her revelation.

Of course, Steffy’s jubilation was short-lived. Her father, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), her mother, Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen), and her brother, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), gently referred to Finn in the past tense as if to ease Steffy into learning something that no one can ever be eased into. “Why are you talking this way?” asked Steffy, hoping against hope that there’d be a reason. “Finn is gone,” Taylor softly said. “He was shot that night [and] didn’t survive,” Ridge added.

Steffy’s lost a lot in her life but we can’t recall ever seeing the leading lady in this much pain. The tears flowed along with uncontrollable shaking. Viewers wanted to reach through their screens and comfort Steffy. Fortunately, her parents and brother were there to do the job.

Steffy recalled that Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) is Finn’s mother but not that she was the one who shot her and murdered Finn. Unaware that she has the worst mother-in-law in the world, Steffy found the grace to share sympathy with Sheila on the loss of her son.

Later, Liam updated Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) and Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) on Steffy remembering Finn. “At first, she was just confused…but then, the memories started coming back and you could see the look on her face change and it was just…it was horrible. Her realizing that the husband that she was only now starting to remember…is gone.” Indeed, it is truly horrible knowing Steffy is in such pain. However, watching Jacqueline MacInnes Wood deliver another emotional tour-de-force is what watching soap operas is all about!

Honorable Mention: Kimberlin Brown, a previous Soap Hub Performer of the Week for B&B for her role as Sheila Carter, continues to shine in this storyline. We’re getting to see the vengeful former nurse display colors that she hasn’t always gotten to in the past such as genuine remorse.
