It’s clear skies ahead for Kim Matula (ex-Hope, The Bold and the Beautiful). The actress has completed 12 episodes of her new Fox sitcom, LA To Vegas, which airs Tuesdays at 9 pm ET. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have opinions on her old show.
Soap Hub caught up with the actress recently to talk about her new series and her thoughts on B&B recasting her role with newcomer Annika Noelle.
“The show needs to do what’s best for the show,” Matula philosophizes. “If they need to bring Hope back because they need her for the story [then that’s what they should do]. I’ve heard Annika is fantastic. I’m really happy for her.”
Matula says she left Hope after a five-year run because “I was ready for something different. I felt I had taken Hope as far as I could.”
While she’s closed the hatch on daytime, Matula is not done with LA To Vegas. She’ll return to the Fox studios to film three more episodes in February. Matula says she’s not basing her flight attendant character on any she’s met in real life, but she does say Ronnie’s very familiar.
“Ronnie is…me,” Matula says. “I’m not as impulsive as Ronnie is, but I put my foot in my mouth a lot. Also, I help family and friends with their problems. Ronnie does the same.”
Of her LA To Vegas co-stars, Matula says, “All I wanted to do is ask Dylan McDermott [Captain Dave] about Steel Magnolias. I adore working with Nathan [Lee Graham, who plays fellow flight attendant Bernard]. We had this instant chemistry and it feels like we’ve been friends forever.”
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
