Forget about the first year of marriage being the toughest! For Steffy Forrester and Finn on The Bold and the Beautiful, the first several hours after becoming man and wife were the most challenging because that’s when most everyone discovered that Sheila Carter is Finn’s birth mother. It became clear quickly that there were no guarantees for Dr. and Mrs. Finnegan.
The Bold and the Beautiful: ‘I Do, I Do, We’re Not’
And there’s a big question that we’re not sure we know the answer to. Are Finn and Steffy an officially married couple at all or not — to quote Star Jones — ‘legally speaking!’ Steffy made a reference to how their marriage license wasn’t signed and filed. That meant there was a legal loophole that could separate the two or technically mean they were never together in the eyes of the law.
Would the B&B writers tear Finn and Steffy apart on a technicality? Sure, Sheila would love nothing more than to have her son all to herself. And Finn was just mesmerized enough by Sheila to give Steffy cause for pause. Fortunately, and ultimately, Finn and Steffy talked out their problems and agreed to move forward with Finn having an understanding of just how volatile his birth mother can be.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Best Laid Plans
However, we haven’t heard that Steffy and Finn have officially and legally become husband and wife. What if nobody got around to filing the certificate? In Sheila’s diabolical hands, this information could prove to be a valuable weapon as she schemes to have her son and grandson (Hayes) all to herself.

If Finn isn’t Steffy’s legal spouse then he’d have no say in her care (as a husband, at least) if she were to relapse and get addicted to opioids again. However, if he is Steffy’s legal mate, then, Sheila is literally Steffy’s mother-in-law – something that could potentially grate on her last nerve.
Another B&B Wedding
There are pros and cons to each scenario. The show’s writers will likely choose the one that has the best dramatic impact. Of course, if Steffy and Finn aren’t legally wed, then, there’s the likelihood that the couple will get married again someday – this time in an even splashier gala. Perhaps, the show could go on a scenic remote?
