The Bold and the Beautiful A Critic's Review Rinse and Repeat
 Comments

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review

When in doubt, bring back Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). When necessary, have Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) and Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) speak in platitudes and bury the verbal hatchet (and not in each other’s back). And whatever you do, mention Stephanie Forrester’s (Susan Flannery) name at least a hundred times, because it never, ever gets old…except when it does. In fact, it all gets pretty old.

The first few times that Sheila made a shock comeback on The Bold and the Beautiful, it was an absolute triumph for the show. Her 2017 reintroduction? A big ole stinker.

The first time that Hope and Steffy vowed to make their blended families work, and the first time they preached love and sisterhood, we were sure that they meant it. We agreed with them that their lives would have been so much more fuller if Taylor Forrester (Hunter Tylo) and Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) had made the effort to come together and put the past behind them.

But this time…it just left us scratching our heads and thinking, if it didn’t work out back then…And as for that much discussed, beloved by all portrait, can we please, please just give it a rest. The Bold and the Beautiful functioned perfectly well for nigh on two decades WITHOUT a portrait of the Forrester family matriarch – whomever she may have been at that particular moment – handing above the mantle.

And as genuinely beautiful, and heartfelt as Ridge Forrester’s (Thorsten Kaye) speech was, didn’t it ring a little hollow considering this is, what, the fifth or sixth time Ridge has, “given his daughter away?” Maybe this time it was different since the man Steffy was marrying was neither Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) nor Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks)?

Further B&B Critic’s Musings

* Oh, Pamie Douglas (Alley Mills)! We love and missed you. But, where in the world was Charlie? Here’s hoping that their wedding will be the next one depicted onscreen.

* Kudos to the props department for being sure to furnish recovering alcoholic Brooke with sparkling water, rather than champagne.

* Man, Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) sure is a brave man…unless he doesn’t always invite in (whom he assumes to be) complete strangers into his apartment while his back is to the door, and he is in a vulnerable position.
