Monday, March 23 – Episode #253
After Bill’s deep discussion with Anita (Tamara Tunie), he headed over to Dani’s, where he told her about it. They had a heart-to-heart, and he mentioned briefly that Anita’s light had dimmed. Just like Dani’s was dimmed when they were together. The two ultimately bonded as co-parents and friends.
Meanwhile, Anita’s condition worsened. She was in a world of pain. More pain than she’s ever felt. But she refused to go to the hospital like Vernon (Clifton Davis) wanted. Elsewhere, Jacob (Jibre Hordges) and Smitty (Mike Manning) were meeting in secret when Smitty got a call from the hospital. His plasma ring source, Max, had been stabbed. Max (Cris Ruiz) wanted out, but there was no way the plasma ring would let him.
Joey (Jon Lindstrom) comforted Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) in her time of need as they rehashed how much they meant to each other. They didn’t know what they would do without the other. At Orphey Gene’s, Samantha (Najah Jackson), Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), and June (Jasmine Burke) talked. June decided she wanted to volunteer at the free clinic.
Tuesday, March 24 – Episode #254
At another elevator dropoff for the plasma ring, Jacob demanded that Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso) deliver a dangerous message to Max, who had been stabbed. Members of the plasma ring were outside the hospital. Jacob needed Grayson to tell Max he needed to do whatever it took to get out of the hospital without being seen.
Grayson helped him do that. It was a close call when Ashley (Jen Jacob) caught Grayson in Max’s room. Later, Grayson met up with Jacob at Jacob’s favorite brick wall location. He learned that Max made it out okay. Jacob tried to pump Grayson for more information, but the lab tech didn’t give much away.
Vernon finally got Anita to agree to go to the hospital. Unfortunately, Anita made a decision about her future. She decided she wanted to sign a do-not-resuscitate order. She had given up. Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) and Dani (Karla Mosley) joined Vernon at the hospital, and he told his daughters he was afraid Anita was giving up the fight. Finally, at Orphey Gene’s, Tomas (Alex Alegria) tried to comfort Kat (Colby Muhammad).
Wednesday, March 25 – Episode #255
Vernon, Nicole, and Dani rallied around Anita, who was determined to sign that DNR. She was in immense pain, and she didn’t see a way out. Ted (Keith D. Robinson) visited with her, and Anita gave him advice not to forget Kat or those important to him. That he worked so hard to forge a relationship with Eva (Ambyr Michelle) that he neglected his relationship with Kat. Ted took those words to heart.
Vernon updated his daughters, telling them that Anita intended to quit her chemotherapy, sign the DNR, and, in essence, fade away. The trio ultimately went to her side and fought for her when she couldn’t fight for herself. Anita ripped up that DNR without signing it.
After some reflection, Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) told Hayley (Marquita Goings) he had second thoughts about having another baby at his age. Hayley secretly rejoiced, but told him she understood. Hayley also met up with Lynette (Dominique Madison), who was happy that all charges against her had been dropped. But she was suspicious about Hayley and Randy (Maurice P. Kerry). Speaking of suspicions, Tomas told Kat his thoughts about Lynette, and Kat immediately figured there was something off about the woman.
Thursday, March 26 – Episode #256
Jacob, once again, pumped Grayson for info and still got nowhere. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Ashley delivered some good news. Anita could go home. A particularly brutal infection is what caused all that pain. But now they had her on the right antibiotics and medication.
Sharon (Bonita Brisker) spent time with Anita while Vernon went to the country club to play squash. While Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), Eva, and Peaches (Arle Michel) were dining at the club, Leslie had another shouse showdown with Vernon. Meanwhile, Anita summoned Bill to her house. She wanted him to update her living trust.
Kat and Ted spent some quality time together, and they had a good talk. They saw things from each other’s perspective. And they came to an understanding. We finally met Mama Hawthorne, aka Darlene (Monique Mosee), when she met up with Izaiah (Lami) at Orphey Gene’s. The two talked about Eva. For the moment, she wasn’t a fan because of Eva’s mother. Darlene was also worried about Jacob.
Friday, March 27 – Episode #257
For Anita, updating her living trust meant making a big ask of Bill. She wanted him to be the co-executor and co-trustee alongside Vernon for her will/estate. Bill was surprised and really happy that Anita would trust him in this way. Later, Vernon agreed with Anita that this was a smart move. He didn’t veto her decision.
Darlene’s concern about Jacob caused Izaiah to try to fix things. He called up Naomi and asked her if he could use her burner phone to contact her husband. That it was for his mother. But Naomi quickly shut down that request. When Eva met Darlene, Mama Hawthorne made up an excuse and quickly left Orphey Gene’s. Eva noticed the icy introduction.
Dani filled Nicole in on Bill’s decision not to have a baby with Hayley after all. Elsewhere, Jacob and Smitty met up. Jacob felt bad about having to deal with the plasma ring business and about not being able to connect with Naomi. Smitty and a distraught Naomi met up instead.
Hayley caught Lynette and Tomas bonding over the basket of muffins she brought to the law firm to give her thanks after Bill got the charges against her dropped. Hayley wasn’t happy and felt Tomas had an ulterior motive for being so nice to Lynette. She decided, once again, to try to turn Bill against Tomas.
