Weekly Recap: May 25-29, 2026
Monday, May 25 – REPEAT Episode #438 (OAD 1/19/26)
Special episode that pulls back the curtain on Beyond the Gates with commentary from the actors as they relive their storylines… including all of season one’s explosive affairs, shocking cons, and family secrets.
Tuesday, May 26 – Episode #294
Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) ordered Tomas (Alex Alegria) to stop investigating Lynette (Dominique Madison), especially after he learned that Tomas once again let Kat (Colby Nixon) take the lead on questioning a source. Hayley (Marquita Goings) was impatient because she had increased Bill’s doses of the poison, but nothing was happening. Later, Bill had issues with a shaky hand, so Hayley doubled down and dosed his drink some more.
Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) confided her fantasies to Kial (Greg Vaughan), who didn’t raise any issues with them. In fact, the two settled into a very domestic moment with Nicole doing some work while Kial read a book. Eva (Ambyr Michelle) told Ted (Keith D. Robinson) that until Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) could replace the general manager position at the free clinic, she would need to reduce her hours at his office so she could help her mom. The opening was the result of Derek’s death.
Donnell (Alex Cheeks) wanted Joey (Jon Lindstrom) to be honest with him. He asked — again — if Joey had anything to do with his dad’s death. But Joey didn’t admit to anything. He did defend his right to let the people at his casino govern themselves. And that Doug’s death didn’t keep him awake at night. Deanna’s (Angela Fairley) so-called blast from the past was her father. But he was simply a figment of her imagination. Leslie worried that the plasma ring’s reach could impact her. She hit Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) up for info on Joey’s thoughts.
Wednesday, May 27 – Episode #295
Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) shared her decision about the future of their relationship with Ted. And she didn’t even mind that he turned to her Aunt Monica (Iona Morris) for help. Shanice told Ted she didn’t want to give up on them. So they were back on. Leslie came over to their table at the country club, but Ted set boundaries, hoping to learn from his past mistakes. Shanice was appreciative.
Meanwhile, Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) talked about his night with Jessica (Camryn Jade). In the process, Tyrell learned about his dad’s past, that he wasn’t always with men back in the day. At Orphey Gene’s, Mona (Karan Kendrick) revealed to Jan (Jerri Tubbs) that she was diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes. And told her how she would have to change her life from here on out.
Elsewhere, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) did her best to help Ashley (Jen Jacob) in her time of need. She used paper airplanes to distract her friend. Just as she was leaving, Derek’s dad arrived at Naomi’s doorstep. He shared the fact that he blamed Jacob (Jibre Hordges) for his son’s death. And that he would take his son’s body back home. Naomi showed up at the press conference, where she saw Jacob and told him that she wanted to distract him, too.
During the press conference, Ted and Elon (Malachi Malik) spoke, and then Leslie inserted himself into the lineup. She played up her grief for Derek (Ben Gavin), but at the same time tried to separate the free clinic from the plasma ring bust. Derek’s dad showed up at the precinct, where he blamed Jacob for Derek’s death. Shanice and Ashley decide to throw a memorial service for Derek.
Jan spoke with Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso). As much as she liked Derek, she also felt Grayson would be good for Ashley, despite what just happened. Leslie might hire Grayson to work at the clinic, at least on a probationary period, given his contributions to the plasma ring operation.
Jessica and Samantha (Najah Jackson) talked at the club. Jessica apologized for missing Samantha’s Platinum Deb moment. And Jessica had concerns about her and Tyrell’s future. She told him they could have the summer and then potentially go their separate ways when they started college. It would be better to be friends at that point.
Thursday, May 28 – Episode #296
Derek’s memorial service took place at Uptown, a place that Ashley said was important to him. Derek’s dad didn’t show up, but his friends and his firefighter family were there. They shared wonderful stories about Derek, talked about the hero that he was, and then the firefighters brought it to an end with an emotional Last Call.
Dani (Karla Mosley) schooled Bil on his selective memory regarding his former partner at his law office, Mike Davis (Pierce Lackey). Apparently, Mike’s misdeeds went way back. And Bill didn’t realize how that man affected his own family. Dani didn’t feel protected. The women that Mike harassed certainly didn’t feel protected. And she suspected that Naomi didn’t want to go into practice with Bill because of that man. Bill just didn’t get it. He didn’t realize how bad Mike’s behavior was until that lawsuit.
At Orphey Gene’s, Madison (Kenjah) told Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) she wanted her mother to be at her wedding. Even if the two weren’t on speaking terms right now. Later, Dani joined them. She was now back in on helping them plan their wedding. But Chelsea had to tell her mom that she didn’t want wedding dresses from the designers she had already reached out to.
Ted’s vote of confidence rubbed Nicole the wrong way. Ted vouched for her with the board for the open Chief of Staff job now that Lia (Cecelia Specht) was having legal trouble. Nicole wanted nothing to do with a promotion. It was an administrative job, and she’s allergic to that. Kial walked in at the perfect time. And their conversation was over.
Meanwhile, at the country club, Bill and Ted ran into each other. They had a conversation about how they were no longer in the Duprees’ inner circle. They only had themselves to blame, but they missed being part of that family.
Friday, May 29 – Episode #297
Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon’s night of romance was interrupted twice, first by Kat. And then by Martin, who made immediate excuses, saying that he didn’t know they were getting busy. Kat turned to Chelsea and a glass of Scotch to deal with the cringe moment. Martin then joined Kat and Chelsea at Uptown to commiserate. By the end of the episode, instead of going up to their bedroom, Anita and Vernon (Clifton Davis) checked into a hotel.
At the casino, Joey and Bill had a talk. Joey wanted Bill to help him get ahead of any insinuations that he was involved in the Red Market plasma ring. He knew there would be extra eyes on this because it involved Elon’s son, Jacob. However, Joey got distracted when he saw that Bill’s hand was shaking. So the conversation didn’t exactly prove fruitful.
After Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) had a chat with Martin about the cotillion and Derek’s death, she headed to the casino, where she brought up Derek and how she decided to expand the clinic’s internship program with a scholarship in Derek’s name. She also confronted Joey about Jacob’s interest in Joey for the plasma ring. And she revealed that she can’t help but think about Doug (Jason Graham) amid all this fresh grief. Joey got a call and found out that The Impaler wanted to meet.
Jacob and Naomi had a raw conversation now that Jacob had finally set foot in his home. Naomi said she didn’t think she was the model cop’s wife. Meanwhile, Jacob finally came clean on this thoughts about his best friend Derek’s death. This experience will definitely have lasting effects on their lives, especially since Derek’s dad is blaming him for his son’s death. And Jacob’s feeling the guilt.
Leslie tried to get Hayley on her side again. Hayley said it wasn’t going to happen. But Leslie grabbed her phone anyway and shared her info with Hayley in case she needed a favor. Hayley didn’t see any reason why they needed to interact. But Leslie had Hayley’s number. She guessed what she was up to with Bill. That she was working a long con. And that someday, she would need an ally that she could turn to for assistance.
Bill walked up to the table and told Leslie to walk away. Actually, his words were, “Not today, Satan.”
