The Teens Break Out
The night of the Cotillion, Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) and Jessica (Camryn Jade) spent the night together. It was a first for Tyrell, but the two took their relationship to the next level. However, Jessica, being the realistic person that she is, broke some bad news to her boyfriend. That while they have the summer to be together, when they both go off to college in the fall, it should be as friends.
After all, she is going to UCLA, and Tyrell is staying close to home when he starts at Banneker U. This didn’t quite sit well with Tyrell, but it is what it is. They still can have a magical summer together. And they’re kicking it off with a bold move. Given that Jessica has exhibited rebellious tendencies, we’re thinking this bold move is her suggestion.

There’s something in the water the Duprees must be drinking, because a few of them are in dire need of advice.
Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) is the one who turns to Anita (Tamara Tunie) for advice. This could be about her booked-and-busy love life, which includes fantasies about Ted (Keith D. Robinson). In BTG’s weekly video, Nicole has a sit-down with her mother, and Anita has a feeling she knows what this is all about. Nicole denies that she’s talking about sex, but Anita lets her in on a secret. She’s, of course, talking about sex.
Meanwhile, Martin (Brandon Claybon) doles out some advice to his dad, who might need more than that. He needs a tutorial on how to communicate with women without upsetting them or messing things up. Well, Martin will hopefully find the right words to tell his father to do better.
Ted will actually have to step up and advise one of his daughters. Eva (Ambyr Michelle) is feeling overwhelmed, and so her father does his best to comfort her. Eva might be feeling this way after that Hawthorne family gathering, where Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) and Izaiah’s mother, Darlene (Monique Mosee), clashed.
The Decision Is In
Since Nicole had no interest in the Chief of Staff job opening at Garland Memorial, the hospital’s board must have reached out to offer it to Shanice’s aunt, Monica (Iona Morris). The renowned oncologist would have to leave her job in Houston and move back to the DMV. Will she accept the position or reject it? Monica gives Vernon (Clifton Davis) her answer. We get the feeling that Garland needs Monica more than Monica needs Garland.

Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and Smitty (Mike Manning) have a long-overdue chat. During Jacob’s undercover era, Smitty tried to be there for Naomi, even though he couldn’t tell her why. Let’s see if Naomi will appreciate this support or call him out for keeping things from her.
Finally, Samantha’s journey to Platinum Deb status was emotional. She often felt like an impostor. It was usually the Belleclaires that made her feel that way. But she persevered, and she had an amazing Cotillion experience.
Now that the dust has settled, Kat (Colby Nixon) and Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) show Samantha (Najah Jackson) just how much she means to them. How will they show her this? Maybe they’ll take her with them to Tokyo, where the ChelseaKat bags will be featured on the runway. Samantha is ChelseaKat’s teen ambassador. So it could happen.
