Weekly Recaps: October 5-9, 2026

Monday, October 5 – Episode #382
At the Duprees Homecoming pre-party, Anita (Tamara Tunie) heard disturbing news from Vernon (Clifton Davis), who filled her in on the leverage Hayley (Marquita Goings) had over Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett). Anita was livid that Bill and Hayley’s drama could affect their lives. And she lamented the fact that her two daughters had married such sorry men. They decided to tell Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) after Homecoming and Martin (Brandon Claybon) after the election.

Meanwhile, Andre (Sean Freeman) continued to show Dani (Karla Mosley) how frustrated he was over her running into danger to save Bill. Things were a bit icy for them. Things were also icy between Martin and Jacob (Jibre Hordges). Martin didn’t appreciate Jacob questioning Smitty (Mike Manning).

Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) arrived home complete with his laundry. At the pre-party, Tyrell unloaded something else – a secret he had been keeping. He introduced his girlfriend. And it was Francesca “Chessy” Belleclaire (Madison Alsobrook), Samantha’s nemesis during the road to her becoming Platinum Deb at the Cotillion. Samantha (Najah Jackson) couldn’t believe her brother was dating Chessy.

At the country club, Deanna (Angela Fairley) arrived to see her mom, who told her daughter she wasn’t feeling the Homecoming party. Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) told her daughter to go without her, which didn’t sit well with Deanna. Ultimately, Vanessa had to come clean about the carjacker. Deanna immediately blamed Joey (Jon Lindstrom) and went to the Duprees without Vanessa.

In Joey’s VIP room at his casino, Bill revealed the incriminating intel Hayley was using as leverage to keep herself out of prison. While Joey took it easy on Bill (his sister had just outsmarted him), he said Hayley would have to be dealt with. He wondered if Bill had anything on Hayley that would keep her quiet.

Bill felt they could find out from Randy (Maurice P. Kerry), who suddenly entered the room. Randy played dumb. But Joey wasn’t having it. After all, this wasn’t just affecting Bill. It was affecting him, too.

Back at the pre-party, Izaiah (Lami) and Kat’s fun conversation raised questions for Jacob, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), and Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla). Nicole and Dani talked to Deanna about her fight with her mother, which caused Deanna to head back to the club to make amends with her mom.

At the end of the episode, the partygoers hopped on the party bus to Banneker for the Homecoming football game, singing the Banneker fight song.

Tuesday, October 6 – Episode #383
Anita and Dani’s update blindsided Nicole. They filled her in on Hayley escaping the long arm of the law. And about the leverage. Nicole couldn’t believe it. But she was really upset with how they kept this secret from her at the Homecoming party. She said she was sick of them treating her like she’s fragile.

Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) dropped by Hayley’s hotel room and talked her new “bestie” into going shopping. Hayley scored big with a new wardrobe and new wigs. And they topped it all off with a visit to the country club, where, luckily for them, they ran into Anita, Nicole, and Dani. Hayley and Leslie confronted them at their table. Anita warned Leslie to watch who she hangs out with – it could leave her back on the outside. Leslie basically said she’s used to the outside.

Joey and Randy had it out. Joey wondered who Hayley was to Randy, and finally, Randy revealed that they were cousins. Vernon talked to Bill and confirmed that what he had heard was true. Vernon put Bill on notice, however. Bill was all ready to go into battle, but Vernon told him that he would handle things if necessary. Bill might want to keep his distance: plausible deniability and all of that.

At Orphey Gene’s, Chelsea pressed Kat (Colby Nixon) on her friendship with Izaiah. Kat was tired of Chelsea wondering if there was anything more between Kat and Izaiah. They were friends. That was it, she insisted.

Eva (Ambyr Michelle) overheard some of the conversation and confronted Kat. But Kat wasn’t having it. She was sick of hearing about something that was nothing from everybody. And she left. Eva thanked Chelsea for not taking sides. Chelsea questioned Eva over Leslie bailing Hayley out.

Meanwhile, at the precinct, Izaiah dropped in to collect the winnings on the Banneker bet he made with his father. Jacob took the opportunity to ask about what was going on between him and Kat. Izaiah claimed they were friends and that was it. Jacob then went and had it out with Bill. He wanted to understand why he would let Hayley go. Bill tried to give him a story. But Jacob figured Hayley had some leverage on Bill.

Randy and Hayley met up at Caffeine Fix, where Randy showed his frustration over learning about the recordings. He warned his cousin that Joey didn’t play. She was on his radar, and that wasn’t a good place to be. Randy was fed up, and he seemingly cut the cord on their collaboration. Hayley talked to Joey herself. She assured him he had nothing to worry about with her. That once she had her money, she would leave town.

Joey had one of his men bring Randy back to the casino, where he pulled a gun on him. Joey said time was up. At the same time that Leslie called Hayley about that vacation she wanted to take, someone grabbed Hayley from behind.

Wednesday, October 7 – Episode #384
Vernon walked into Joey’s VIP room before the shady casino owner could shoot Randy or whatever he was going to do to his employee. Meanwhile, Marcel (Darryl W. Handy) was the one who grabbed Hayley on Joey’s orders.

Randy left, and Vernon and Joey discussed their different styles. Vernon didn’t want a repeat of what happened to Kenny (Jason Vendryes), the racist thug who attacked Martin and Vernon. Kenny ended up dead. Vernon didn’t want another body on his conscience. Instead, Vernon handled things his way. He showed up at the place where Marcel had Hayley tied to a chair that was sitting on a tarp. He had already threatened to hurt her with a hacksaw.

Vernon made sure Hayley knew that if she didn’t cough up the recordings, he would use all of his resources to make her pay. And that’s in addition to whatever Joey would do to her. Hayley did reveal some information to him. She confessed that she had a co-conspirator and that this whole con was his idea — her cousin, Randy, who just so happened to work for Joey.

Eva and Izaiah discussed the Kat situation. He assured her that Eva had nothing to worry about. He decided to work from Eva’s place. When he got there, Leslie was watching her story. She pushed her wedding wishes on him again. He told her he was committed to Eva, even though others questioned it. He admitted that people expressed opinions about him and Kat. But there was nothing to see there. Leslie basically revealed it was her fault that Eva was so insecure about Kat.

Ted asked Eva to take his place at a medical convention in Seattle. He assured her that she would do well there as a representative for the practice. Eva was excited. She would have to leave that night, so she went home to pack and encountered Izaiah and Leslie. She told them her news.

Vernon joined Joey, Ted, Elon (Malachi Malik), and Bill back at the casino to tell them what had transpired. He also told them about the Randy intel. Vernon seemed sure that Hayley would give them what they wanted as long as Bill gave her what they had negotiated.

Joey’s man brought Randy back to the casino. Vernon let Randy know that Hayley gave him up. Randy claimed he had raided one of his and Hayley’s P.O. boxes to see if the recordings were there. Instead, he found forged IDs. After Bill and Vernon left, Randy told Joey he was loyal to him. Joey said he had better be. Because if he weren’t, he’d end up like his friend, Doug. Marcel dropped Hayley off at Uptown, where she ran into Leslie, who asked why she was in Marcel’s car.

Finally, at Dani and Andre’s house, Andre asked where Dani was, and she came clean about talking to Bill. And just like that, Andre shared his frustrations with his wife. He said he was sick of her spending so much time with him, and she just expected him to be patient and okay with everything. And he was sick of her running to Bill for every little excuse.

Thursday, October 8 – Episode #385
Andre and Dani continued their fight. The photographer asked his wife whether she still wanted to be married to him or be with Bill. He also wanted to know what kept pulling her to Bill. He sensed there was a shift starting the night of the tornado. Andre had been pushing her about her BRCA gene status and doing something preventative so that he wouldn’t lose her. Dani felt awful for what Andre was going through. She wanted to know what she could do to convince him that he was the man that she wanted. That he didn’t need to doubt her. And they ended up in bed.

Deanna and Noah (Nick Hagelin) were at Orphey Gene’s when she filled him in on what went down with her mom. That they worked things out, but she still had hopes that Vanessa would see the light and break up wth Joey. Noah gave her another perspective on her mother…and her father. As a result, she seemed to shut down talking to her hallucination dad. And she asked her mom to finally talk about what her dad was really like near the end of his life.

Before Deanna talked to her mom, Nicole and Vanessa had a chat. Vanessa expressed gratitude. She appreciated Nicole and Dani talking to her daughter at the Homecoming pre-party. Nicole suggested that Vanessa take a break from Joey. It’s a valid concern for her kids to worry about their mom’s safety, especially in light of her recent carjacking experience.

At Garland, Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) walked in on Ted and Ashley (Jen Jacob) in cahoots. But they wouldn’t say anything. Ted asked Nicole to stop by his office. And when she did, he broke the news that he and Shanice were going on vacation. Nicole reacted badly. But she felt like the timing of the vacation was wrong, considering what was going on with Hayley and how it could affect Martin. Ted felt that things were settled enough for him to go.

At Uptown, Hayley was freaked out after her experience with Marcel. Being tied up, gagged, and threatened with a hacksaw was no fun. Leslie tried to talk to her about the trip she wanted to take. But Hayley raced out and returned to her hotel room. Randy showed up, and he was upset as hell at her. He didn’t appreciate her selling him out to Vernon. And he ultimately told her to lose his number. Because she was free to go to St. Bart’s, while he would have to work for Joey for the rest of his life.

Friday, October 9 – Episode #386
Vernon told Anita the ugly truth about his negotiations with Hayley. They concluded that the Duprees could resume their lives now that they wouldn’t have to worry about Bill’s ex-wife.

Meanwhile, Heather paid a visit to Joey. She told him and Vanessa that she wanted to smooth things over. And she still wanted back in her brother’s life. She suggested they could go into business together. Maybe the restaurant business. Joey wasn’t pleased with anything his sister said.

Heather also suggested that she get herself a place in the DMV and asked Vanessa to help her. After Heather left, Vanessa told Joey that she thought his sister was being sincere. He knew she was being anything but genuine.

At Uptown, Chelsea and Madison (Kenjah) were hanging out. Chelsea was frustrated with everything. And Madison waited for word on the judge’s verdict for her case. At Caffeine Fix, Naomi chatted with Kial (Greg Vaughan), who said he was headed over to Nicole’s. Mike made a last-ditch settlement request. Naomi ran it by Madison, who decided to reject the request and wait for the judge’s decision.

Naomi showed up at Uptown, and after she got a bottle of champagne, she broke the news to Chelsea and Madison. The judge had ruled in their favor. They won! Madison’s risk paid off. Later, Heather ran into Naomi at Uptown. And, of course, she asked her whether Naomi’s husband had tracked down The Impaler yet. Naomi said she didn’t know.

Smitty and Martin were at home. They discussed Martin’s upcoming campaign event that required a family photo shoot. Smitty was clear with his husband. Because the opposition suspected that the police had questioned him, he wouldn’t be going anywhere near one of his events. He didn’t want to be a liability to Martin and ruin his chances for re-election.

In New York, Ted popped the question to Shanice, who said yes. Meanwhile, romance was on Nicole’s mind, too. She didn’t ask Kial to marry her. However, she did put together a romantic evening. After dessert, she gave him the key to her house…and her heart.
