Weekly Recap: January 26-30, 2026
Monday, January 26 – Episode #216
After her chemotherapy session, Anita (Tamara Tunie) collapsed in her home. When she woke up, she refused to go to the hospital. So Vernon (Clifton Davis) reached out to the oncologist, and Ted (Keith D. Robinson) showed up to administer care. The Duprees were grateful for his help. They knew that he didn’t have to show up since they shut him out after his affair became public. Nicole (Daphnée Duplaixi) updated Dani (Karla Mosley) on taking her relationship with Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) to the next level. Dani was happy for her sister.
Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) turned to Ashley (Jen Jacob) for help after receiving her positive BRCA gene test results. And yes, she still hasn’t told her family or her husband. But she did come clean to her bestie. Meanwhile, Tomas (Alex Alegria) was happy he had been made a junior partner, and at the country club, he made sure to let Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) know he would remain quiet about Bill’s kiss with Dani. He tried to warn Bill that he was in a precarious spot with Dani and Hayley (Marquita Goings). But Bill couldn’t help but reminisce about what attracted him to Dani and what sent him running. She had lost all those initial qualities that made her larger than life.
Tuesday, January 27 – Episode #217
At Uptown, Kat (Colby Muhammad) was with Tomas when her mother walked in with new hair, a new dress, and a brand-new attitude. She was there to meet up with Dr. Kial Rollins (Greg Vaughan). The two shared drinks and flirted, and it made Kat practically lose her you-know-what. She couldn’t believe her mom would be dating multiple guys. Elsewhere, Hayley faced rejection on two fronts. Andre (Sean Freeman) didn’t want to play her reindeer games after she suggested that they work together to keep Dani and Bill apart. Later, Bill still had Dani on his mind when he pretended to be asleep when Hayley, sporting lingerie, tried to wake him up.
In other news, Andre set up a romantic surprise for his bride at home. Dani kept quiet about her kiss with Bill. Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and Madison (Kenjah) struggled over the prospect of Chelsea’s wild side returning. While arguing, Chelsea blurted out an awkward marriage proposal, to which Madison walked out. Lastly, Joey (Jon Lindstrom) roughed up the surly husband of one of Vanessa’s escort service clients. He had manhandled Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli), so Joey delivered a harsh and physical message to the guy.
Wednesday, January 28 – Episode #218
Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) may be enjoying a fling, but she still has her eyes on the prize. So she can’t abide by Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) getting so close to Ted. With the help of hotel security, she snuck into his room and planted items in various places, clearly hoping Shanice would eventually find them and ditch Ted. In other news, Martin (Brandon Claybon) wondered where Smitty (Mike Manning) was all night. Smitty said he was working on a story but wouldn’t give details. And wouldn’t do anything that he knew was dangerous. Elsewhere, Anita had it with overprotective Vernon so she kindly gave him the boot from the house so she could have some space.
He ended up at the club where he and Martin talked. For once, Nicole and Kat didn’t have a conversation about Kat’s hatred of Eva (Ambyr Michelle). Instead, Kat confronted her mother over her Nicole reboot and dating two guys at the same time. Nicole simply explained herself and she didn’t cave under her daughter’s judgmental attitude towards her. Elon (Malachi Malik) was afraid of Jacob’s (Jibre Hordges) assignment becoming truly dangerous now that he knows one of the guys in the criminal ring goes by the nickname of “The Impaler.” And Naomi continued to lie to her husband.
Thursday, January 29 – Episode #219
Chelsea and Kat prepped for their Fenmore’s meeting, but Chelsea had a lot of other things on her mind. Well, one thing on her mind. How she bungled things with Madison and so Kat gave her advice. Leslie’s mood made her daughter wary of what was to come. Eva could feel something brewing and wanted to know what it was.
Derek (Ben Gavin) arrived at the hospital and saw Ashley and Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso) flirting. He caused a scene that almost ended up in an altercation, but Ashley stopped it from happening. Derek told Ashley that he is no longer a firefighter. He failed the physical test. And he apologized for letting his frustration and feelings get the best of him. Ashley said she’d help her friend figure out his future.
Kat and Chelsea spotted Dani offering Izaiah (David Lami Friebe) a potential modeling career. Kat gave Izaiah some advice about her aunt Dani and wanted him to see that jumping into modeling wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Eva came in and witnessed them talking. Bill attempted to reminisce with Vernon. He missed how things used to be. But Vernon let Bill know all that he had lost when he left his daughter. That Bill hadn’t just hurt Dani, he hurt the whole family. Vernon thought of him as a son and he blew it.
Friday, January 30 – Episode #220
Hayley was frustrated by the lack of progress in her murder plot and told her cousin Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) that she had been upping the doses so Bill could meet his maker sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Madison called Bill to the hospital for one last appointment. She told him that she was off to do a research fellowship in Copenhagen. He wondered if this was because of what happened wth Chelsea. Madison didn’t want to talk about it. But when he was alone, he called Chelsea to update her.
As for the results of his bloodwork, Madison said there was something suspicious. For some reason, his carbon dioxide levels were low and his electorlytes were all over the place. It could be a fluke, but she wanted to run the tests again. Chelsea later arrived to get Madison to change her mind about leaving the country. Bill told Hayley what was going on with his health.
Vernon set up an amazing evening for he and his wife. The one condition: no talk about cancer. They had a wonderful evening of dining and dancing. They were at the dessert stage when Vernon left the room and Anita realized she started losing her hair. When Vernon returned, she didn’t tell him what was going on, but she wanted to go home immediately. Eva and Kat, once again, said awful things to each other. But this time Izaiah was there to witness it. Finally, Nicole and Carlton made love for the second time.
