There’s no rest for the Duprees. They are currently processing Hayley’s betrayal. But now they get to blow off some steam with what CBS is calling a “spirited tailgate” to celebrate Banneker’s Homecoming. The college is where Tyrell just started his first year. And Donnell and Deanna McBride are seniors. It’s where Izaiah works. And Vernon has been consulting with students there recently. According to the Friday teasers, there will be some drama when Anita’s homecoming party forces Ted and Nicole to navigate their new normal with Shanice and Kial. In this photo preview for the Friday, October 2, and Monday, October 5 episodes, CBS released some behind-the-scenes photos of the cast getting into Homecoming formation.

Behind the Scenes of the Banneker Homecoming Episodes
The cast is clad in Banneker gear and ready to celebrate homecoming. This will be a way for BTG to showcase “the longstanding homecoming traditions of historically Black colleges and universities.”
According to CBS, here’s what to expect:
The residents of Fairmont Crest gather at the Dupree family home for a spirited tailgate ahead of Banneker’s Homecming, decked out in the university’s signature crimson and gold. With five generations of the Dupree family having attended Banneker, Homecoming is more than a celebration — it’s a cherished family legacy. For the Duprees and the Fairmont Crest community, it offers an opportunity to honor their shared history, celebrate their HBCU pride, and come together for a special day filled with family, friendship, and tradition. The excitement culminates with a spirited bus ride to the game, where the entire group proudly sings “Fight On,” Banneker’s beloved fight song.
Last spring, BTG threw a cotillion focusing on Samantha’s debutante journey. And with Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) just starting at Banneker, this is the perfect time to give college homecomings the spotlight.
Looking at the photos above, Elon (Malachi Malik) will get to (hopefully) bond with Izaiah (Lami). And Kial (Greg Vaughan) will be included in the family fun. It has been a minute since we’ve seen him and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) hang out. Deanna (Angela Fairley) is there as well. She returned to Banneker to finish her college experience after considering taking a break from school for a semester or even a year.
