This week on Beyond the Gates, the Vanessa/Doug/Joey situation gets a lot of attention, with a big development playing out by Friday. Meanwhile, Smitty’s working fast. Apparently, his latest assignment already starts to yield results. Plus, Nicole has news for Ted, and we’re thinking he needs to be worried.
The Sacrifice
It has been a minute since we last checked in with the gambling brigade, aka Dr. Doug (Jason Graham), Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli), and Joey (Jon Lindstrom). These three are a hot mess filled with massive debts, heated affairs, and one dangerous proposition. Will Vanessa say yes to the mess and let Joey use her real estate agency for his money laundering purposes?
By the end of the week, we’ll know the answer. According to BTG’s teasers, Vanessa leans into her new partnership with Joey. Maybe she negotiates for more than what Joey was initially offering, and she’ll have a bigger seat at the poker table, so to speak. Is Vanessa about to become a bigger power player? And what will that mean for her marriage to Doug?

The Assignment
While Martin (Brandon Claybon) faces his big secret head-on, his husband may get closer to figuring it out. On Thursday, Smitty’s investigation threatens to expose secrets.
First, if Smitty (Mike Manning) finds out Martin’s secret before his husband gets the chance to tell him, Martin’s marriage may be in trouble. Second, this teaser alludes to more than one secret. So what does he find out while doing this profile on the legendary detective Marcel Malone (Darryl W. Handy)?

The Heartbreak?
In BTG’s video preview for this week, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) shows up at Ted’s door with a mysterious (to us) envelope. Add that to what happens on Friday between the Richardson doctors. Nicole has life-changing news for Ted (Keith D. Robinson).
A while back, Nicole thought about getting rid of her house. She thought better of it, however. What if that envelope she brought to Ted contains divorce papers? Divorce is pretty life-changing. Is that where Ted and Nicole are? Because they haven’t talked much since Ted’s past exploded in his family’s faces. If those aren’t divorce papers, what could they be?
