Vernon (Clifton Davis) is being very protective of his wife, who recently passed out after her chemotherapy session. He is reluctant to let anybody, but himself, care for Anita (Tamara Tunie). However, Anita doesn’t care for his micromanaging. She wants things the way she wants them, and she is probably feeling a little smothered right about now.
This may be why Vernon gets kicked out of the house. Anita may want some space, but she doesn’t want Vernon to let this whole diagnosis and treatment gobble him up either.

The teasers also hint that Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) sets a trap. The conniving woman has a couple of things on her plate that could require her scheming ways. First, she could set a trap for Joey (Jon Lindstrom). They are clashing over the free clinic. But would she risk upsetting Joey Armstrong?
Lately, she hasn’t even been thinking about the Duprees. So maybe this is about setting a trap for Shanice (Ernestine Johnson). She won’t hesitate to cause trouble for the Garland Memorial supervising nurse because she is growing closer to Leslie’s Teddy (Keith D. Robinson) every day. If it isn’t Joey or Shanice, who is it? Marcel (Darryl W. Handy) or Hayley (Marquita Goings)?
Nicole is Done
Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) is about to show that she has no patience or empathy for Kat’s perspective. The evolved psychiatrist has accepted Eva (Ambyr Michelle) as Ted’s daughter and thinks that Kat (Colby Muhammad) should, too. Kat, however, isn’t evolved like that. Instead, she continues to rage against Eva’s place in her father’s life and in their family.

Finally, if Jacob and Elon (Malachi Malik) clash, then it has to be over Jacob’s brand-new undercover gig. This plasma ring case is very important to Jacob. He thinks that it will take his career to the next level. And it’ll prove to his dad that he can rock being a detective. But it appears Elon may still be wary of his son infiltrating this ring.
Meanwhile, it’s a big sigh for Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), who continues to hide the truth from her husband. She is using his high-pressure and high-stakes case as an excuse to keep the fact that she tested positive for the BRCA gene from him. When will she tell him the truth?
Hopefully, sooner rather than later. When this secret blows up, it’ll cause further damage to their marriage. Is Naomi prepared for that?
