Key Takeaways
- Eva and Izaiah’s relationship falters after a tense, unforgettable lunch.
- Naomi leans on Darlene as her separation from Jacob takes a toll.
- Smitty crosses a dangerous line, while Samantha reacts to her mother’s rejection.
Eva and Izaiah Experience Relationship Turbulence
Up until now, Eva (Ambyr Michelle) and Izaiah (Lami) have experienced minor setbacks and frustrations in their relationship. But their latest drama leaves them struggling to find their footing. Eva was stressed about her lunch with Izaiah’s mother. The woman is tough. And she already has preconceived notions about Eva thanks to what she and her mom inflicted on the Duprees when they first came to town.
Darlene (Monique Mosee) isn’t someone to hold back her opinions. And then Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) crashed their lunch, which immediately escalated the tension, leading Darlene to walk out early. This is the last thing Eva wanted to have happen. She wanted to make a good impression. Meanwhile, Izaiah keeps downplaying every situation, including Leslie’s ability to cause chaos and destruction wherever she goes.
At the very least, Izaiah should be telling Eva that his mom didn’t like Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) in the beginning, either, and look at how that relationship developed. Maybe she would feel better hearing that.
Naomi Requires More Support During Her Temporary Separation with Jacob
While Eva and Izaiah deal with their mama drama, Darlene offers up her support to her daughter-in-law. Yes, Naomi’s still struggling in the wake of Jacob’s very first undercover operation. He had to move out of the house to keep Naomi safe and to go deep into his Rashad persona so he could blow the lid off this plasma ring.
Naomi’s reeling, especially since she and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) spent their anniversary apart. Look for her to get comfort from Darlene.
Plasma Ring Mayhem for Smitty and Jacob
This plasma ring undercover operation is inching along. Smitty (Mike Manning) has decided to go rogue and case out the hospital to identify Grayson’s female contact. Jacob feels like this person is a mid-level force in the criminal organization. But to discover her identity could be key to bringing the ring down.
This is Smitty’s way of getting off the sidelines and into the action. Unfortunately for him, he ends up having to do something drastic to get the job done. Smitty commits a crime. Oh, the guilt he will be feeling after this will be strong.
Meanwhile, Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso) is proving to be a stubborn criminal informant. Jacob’s CI continues to stonewall him, leaving Jacob frustrated. What will it take for Grayson to start spilling?
Finally, Elon (Malachi Malik) orders Marcel (Darryl W. Handy) to check in on an old friend. If this has to do with the plasma ring, this may be a way for Elon to check in on his son. He’s super worried that Jacob is in over his head with his undercover case. And that something bad will happen. Is he right?
Rejection Causes Samantha to Retaliate
Samantha (Najah Jackson) went out on a limb and invited June (Jasmine Burke) to her upcoming cotillion. She wants her mom there, and it was a sweet gesture. Unfortunately, June was adamant when she told her daughter that she appreciated the invite but hard pass.
It was clear her insecurities led her to say no. She feels she doesn’t belong in that environment and doesn’t want anything to ruin her daughter’s big day.
But Samantha takes the rejection personally. And on Thursday, she lashes out at June. Samantha’s proud of her mom and how far she’s come. She wants her to be at the cotillion, which is important to her. Will the two be able to work out their issues?
