The Thursday, September 24, episode of Beyond the Gates put a nail in a coffin…Hayley Hamilton’s, not Bill’s. That man’s insides are made of Teflon. She was busted as the evidence against her poured in. Bill was in denial as Dani told him what had happened. And for a minute there, it really felt like Bill wasn’t going to believe his ex-wife.

What Happened on Thursday’s Beyond the Gates
It’s pretty simple. The cops tested Hayley’s vial, and they found out what the mystery toxin was. In fact, Jacob (Jibre Hordges) told Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) what it was: Ethylene glycol, which, according to the Centers for Disease Control, is “a clear, odorless, sweet-tasting, and highly toxic synthetic liquid primarily used as an antifreeze and coolant in automotive and industrial applications.”
And even though Bill tried to fight the warrant for his blood — as expected, he was in complete denial — they did test his blood, and they found the toxin. And as expected, when Dani (Karla Mosley) laid out everything that had happened, he refused to believe that the woman he fell in love with would do that to him. She methodically poisoned him over months, resulting in multiple hospital visits. Honestly, he’s lucky to be alive.
At the end of the episode, Hayley (Marquita Goings) was busted. And Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) had a ringside seat. Jacob slapped the handcuffs on Hayley and read her the Miranda rights…with Bill and Dani watching. Yes, somehow Bill is still standing.
Will Dani Resume Her Own Life Like Anita and Vernon Seem to Think?
Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) hyped Andre (Sean Freeman) up. They told him that now that everybody knows about Hayley and what she has done, the shadows of the past are taken care of. And they figured that Dani would no longer divide her attention. It’s almost as if they don’t know their own daughter, because this could go one of two ways.
Dani could absolutely give Andre and their marriage the focus it needs. Or she could feel torn over almost losing Bill, and it brings them even closer. Dani will have to find the strength to draw the necessary boundaries and make her current marriage a priority.
But two things could prevent that from happening. 1) Dani and Bill’s one-night stand. They are still connected through that secret. But for now, they may not even think about it, because Bill will need to come to terms with what Hayley did and process the fact that Hayley never loved him. He was Hayley’s mark and nothing more. That’s what you call massive karma after what he did to Dani during their marriage.
And 2) Andre has his own shadows of the past to deal with, and she looks a lot like Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones). So Dani and Andre aren’t in the clear yet. In fact, Heather is already putting pressure on him to reconnect.
Hayley’s Future is Bleak But Not Over
We still don’t know how Bill will treat Hayley for what she did to him. Will he remain in denial, or will he accept that their marriage was phony from the get-go?
For now, Tomas (Alex Alegria) is representing her. Will that continue? What’s exciting here is that the Fairmont Crest folks may be about to find out Hayley’s past as a con artist. They could find out how many times she has done this before.
And there’s, of course, her connection to Randy (Maurice P. Kerry), her cousin. Additionally, there’s the whole Lynette Wise (Dominique Madison) business, the fake mugging, and the fake pregnancy. Hopefully, everybody will be prepared to find out all about Hayley, or should we say, Val? Because Hayley may not go down without a fight.
