The Beyond the Gates recap for Friday, March 28, sees Kat trying and failing to catch Eva snooping as Hayley confronts Bill over hugging another woman. Plus, Doug digs himself deeper into trouble.

What Happened On Beyond The Gates?

At Uptown, Kat (Colby Muhammad) monitored the video feed from her mother’s office, hoping Eva (Ambyr Michelle) would expose herself. Meanwhile, outside, Ted (Maurice Johnson) warned Leslie (Tricia Martin-Mann) to stay away from his daughter. Leslie taunted him about the baby they had conceived, lying that she got the abortion he wanted.

Ted dismissed her as trouble and accused her of seeking more money. After some negotiation, he reluctantly agreed to pay her $50,000 to make her leave, just as he had done before. Inside, he checked in with Kat about dinner, but she seemed distracted, accidentally mentioning Eva instead of Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla). Ted advised her to ease up on Eva.

Lies and Schemes

At another table, Doug (Jason Graham) told Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) he had another busy week ahead. Meanwhile, Hayley (Marquita Goings) overheard Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) hugging another woman, Lorinda, and promising to keep their relationship secret until the right time.

Later, Hayley confronted Bill in his office. Bill admitted he was manipulating Lorinda, who was in the middle of a divorce, to gain an advantage in court. Hayley, jealous but impressed, found his scheming attractive. They reassured each other of their love and left together.

Best Laid Plans

In Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) office, Eva called her mother, who screened the call. Nicole showed up and invited Eva to dinner, but Eva worried about Kat’s reaction. She agreed to log off the hospital system first.

Meanwhile, at home, Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) told his dads he fell off his bike, but his bruises suggested otherwise. Samantha (Najah Jackson) supported his lie, though their fathers remained suspicious. Upstairs, Tyrell confessed to Samantha that an older boy had humiliated him by taking an inappropriate photo and sharing it. They agreed not to tell their parents.

At Uptown, Nicole caught up with Doug and Vanessa. Vanessa was curious about Doug’s frequent absences from the hospital. Joey (Jon Lindstrom) arrived, flirted lightly with Vanessa, and told Doug to appreciate her. After Joey left, Vanessa questioned Doug’s secrecy. Doug received a text and rushed off, telling her not to wait up. Vanessa checked Lakeview Casino’s Instagram.

During dinner, Nicole and Ted congratulated Kat on her purse business, but she was glued to her phone. She watched as Eva snooped through patient files, reading Nicole’s under the alias “Sherry.” Kat panicked when her phone battery ran low and rushed home to charge it. Nicole and Ted discussed their upcoming anniversary and their “perfect family.” Ted asked Nicole to never leave him.

At a gambling den, Joey showed Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) a set of rigged playing cards designed to turn winners into losers. Doug was on his way, and Joey instructed Randy to ensure the dealer used the cards. When Doug arrived, Randy tried to dissuade him from playing, but Joey insisted that Doug was key to his financial comeback.

Kat hurried to Nicole’s office as Eva hid behind a plant. While Kat searched for her, Eva checked her phone. Later, Leslie told Eva that Ted had paid her hush money, but their plan remained intact. She considered the money a bonus.

Back at Nicole’s office, Nicole and Ted arrived just as Kat accused Eva of sneaking around. However, when she attempted to show them the incriminating video, it had disappeared.
