The Beyond the Gates recap for Tuesday, March 25, sees Bill learn Naomi is suing him. Plus, Chelsea drops a bomb on Dani while Anita and Vernon run damage control on Martin, but Smitty is suspicious.

What Happened On Beyond The Gates?

At home, Anita (Tamara Tunie) admired old photos when Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) arrived, excited to show her a purse she designed. Anita assumed it was couture, but Chelsea explained that she and Kat (Colby Muhammad) planned to launch a luxury brand.

Chelsea admitted she couldn’t balance both business and modeling. Anita immediately realized Chelsea hadn’t told her mother yet. Chelsea worried she was pulling the rug out from under her “momager,” but Anita reassured her that Dupree women always forged their own paths. If her mother had a dramatic reaction, Anita promised to help bring her back to earth.

More Problems

At the country club, Dani (Karla Mosley) ordered a screwdriver for breakfast. Pamela (Cady McClain) called, and Dani filled her in on being caught breaking into her ex’s place. Hayley (Marquita Goings) had confronted her, but instead of calling Pamela for comfort, she found a muscular shoulder to cry on.

Vernon (Clifton Davis) arrived, wanting to talk about Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley. He acknowledged Dani had been a handful lately but assured her he was looking out for her. He praised the legacy she was building with her daughter before she rushed off. When her drink arrived, Vernon took a sip and nearly choked. Dani quickly returned, downed the glass, and ran off.

Anita joined Vernon, and they discussed Dani’s recent behavior. He thought Dani seemed more focused, but Anita burst his bubble by revealing Chelsea’s decision to leave modeling.

They shifted to a bigger issue—Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) plan to run for president. Anita was adamant: it could never happen. His past was too explosive, and the vetting process would ruin him and hurt their entire family. Vernon agreed that Martin needed to be stopped before it was too late.

Meanwhile, Dani met with Jonathan and Julia to discuss the fashion show. They playfully called her “fierce” and a “brat” for her dramatic wedding antics, which she found flattering from a branding perspective.

Chelsea joined them just as Dani excitedly announced she had negotiated a three-year contract to be the face of the show. However, Chelsea shocked her by revealing she was done with modeling.

Suspicions

At home, Martin was deep in thought when Smitty (Mike Manning) interrupted. Martin claimed he had been working late on a tax bill, but Smitty suspected he was considering running for higher office. Martin flashed back to Vernon warning him about his presidential ambitions. Smitty pointed out how much Martin was missing in their kids’ lives. Though Martin denied any plans to run, Smitty wasn’t convinced.

Later, Vernon summoned Martin to the country club, making it clear this wasn’t a request. Smitty found it odd, and after Martin left. However, Smitty noticed his husband had left his phone behind.

At the club, Vernon and Anita confronted Martin, warning him that if he continued pursuing the presidency, his career would be destroyed. No one could stop the truth from surfacing. Martin refused to back down, insisting he wanted to achieve more than the previous generation. His grandparents suggested he run a foundation instead, but he was insulted, accusing them of thinking he wasn’t worthy.

Smitty arrived just in time to overhear Martin joking that Vernon could sleep in the Lincoln bedroom when he visited. After Martin stormed off, Vernon and Anita sipped their coffee, knowing this battle wasn’t over.

Back at home, Smitty confronted Martin about hiding his presidential aspirations.

Family Rift

Meanwhile, at the office, Bill warned Mike about inappropriate workplace behavior. When Mike made a crude comment about Hayley, Bill threatened to throw him out a window. Mike found the irony amusing but knew Bill wouldn’t tolerate disrespect.

Later, Bill told Tomas (Alex Alegria) about his relationship with Naomi (Arielle Prepetit). He had thought time would heal things, but she had told him he was dead to her. Bill admitted he never expected to be so distant from his children.

At Orphie Gene’s, Naomi met with the women pursuing the sexual harassment case. They informed her they no longer needed her services to avoid forcing her to go against her father. However, Naomi insisted she was the best person to take him down. She assured them she was ready to fight and had already drawn up the complaint. Though the case could permanently sever her relationship with Bill, she was confident they would win.

Later, Naomi arrived at Bill’s office just as he told Hayley over the phone how much he loved her. He told Naomi he was glad she came and wanted to heal their relationship. He proudly called her the best part of him. Before she could respond, Tomas interrupted, announcing a problem—Bill had been served with legal papers. He was stunned to realize his own daughter was suing him.
