What Happened On Beyond The Gates?
Anita (Tamara Tunie) welcomed Elon (Malachi Malik) with a hug. He told her that his wife, Darlene, was still as sassy as ever and continued working dispatch at 911. They talked about Jacob (Jibre Hordges) making arrests and agreed that he had done his job. They discussed getting involved in The Fallen Officer Fund. Anita wanted to take a hands-on approach, noting that the club was free and catering would offer a discount. The only thing left was booking a musical act.
Meanwhile, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) visited Jacob at the precinct. They discussed the sexual harassment case against her father. Naomi didn’t want the spotlight on her, and she worried that the scandal would overshadow the case. However, if she didn’t pursue it, the women involved might lose their chance at justice since no one wanted to go against her father. Jacob supported her but couldn’t tell her what to do.
Later, Elon showed up at the precinct, and Jacob told him that Joey Armstrong (Jon Linstrom) had pocketed a large sum of cash from a street thug while Malone (Alex Alegria) did nothing. They wondered if Malone was a bad cop. Elon believed that the man had earned his stripes and was likely letting a small issue go to catch bigger criminals. He urged Jacob to be patient and let the cop warm up to him.

Wicked Games
At Orphey Gene’s, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) and Doug (Jason Graham) chatted about his interest in her. When Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) texted about work, Doug got distracted and left his badge behind.
Joey introduced himself to Vanessa, asking for her real estate services. His siblings wanted to place their mother in a retirement home, but he hoped to buy her a dream home instead. Vanessa agreed to help. Doug returned for his badge, and she introduced him to Joey. The men pretended not to know each other, but tension lingered as Doug asked how Vanessa had time for Joey because she was so busy.
Meanwhile, Joey told Vanessa what he wanted for his mother’s home. They shook hands. As he left, Vanessa smiled. However, Diego (Carlos Enrique Palacio) had a snide remark about her changing interests. She told him they weren’t exclusive and invited him to workout.
Playing With Fire
At the club, Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and Kat (Colby Muhammad) filmed a TikTok video showcasing their workout outfits. They realized the angle was unflattering, so they turned off the camera and discussed starting their own luxury brand. Chelsea pointed out that her follower count had risen 30% since her mom’s public outburst. Kat insisted it was time for Chelsea to tell Dani (Karla Mosley) she was done with modeling.
At the hospital, Eva (Ambyr Michelle) staged an encounter with Tomas (Alex Alegria), pretending to drop files and injuring her leg. As he helped, she flirted and brought up Kat. Tomas admitted he and Kat were keeping things casual. Eva said that Kat was a lucky girl before walking away.
Later, Kat and Chelsea went to Orphie Gene’s, and they argued over Chelsea’s reluctance to tell Dani about quitting modeling. Chelsea felt it was all she had left after her breakup, but Kat reassured her they could use what her mom taught them to succeed in the digital space.
After Chelsea left, Kat invited Tomas to dinner. She told him she wanted to take things to a more physical level—just kissing, not sex since she was a virgin. Tomas reminded her he had been ready when they were with her family, but he respected her timing. They kissed, and he walked her to her car after handling the bill.
At the club, Chelsea rehearsed her speech about launching her new brand when Jacob showed up. She asked for advice on setting boundaries with her mother.
Bonds
At Anita’s, she called someone to discuss a proposal for the fundraiser. Reflecting on her achievements, she admitted she enjoyed staying busy. Later, Naomi visited, wanting advice about the case.
Anita warned Naomi that taking on her father was like David versus Goliath but assured her she could win. She reminded Naomi that Dupree women didn’t back down from challenges, sharing stories of her own successes. They sat at the piano, reminiscing about Anita’s career before Naomi encouraged her grandmother to sing. Laughing, they tried rapping together.
Broad Daylight
At the hospital, Doug found Randy and told him he had seen Joey talking to his wife about real estate. Randy suggested they head back to gamble while keeping an eye on Joey.
Later, in the back room, Doug enjoyed a winning streak, and Joey vented to Randy. He complained that if Doug kept winning, he’d pay off his debts too soon, which Joey couldn’t afford. He needed to keep Doug under his control. Randy assured him that tomorrow, Doug would lose everything.
A Warning
Back at the precinct, Malone encountered Elon and asked why he had stepped down from his “ivory tower.” He referred to Jacob as the “golden child,” recalling how he had tried to haze him, though Jacob never seemed to notice. Elon defended his son, calling him a good cop. Malone agreed to be more cooperative, but Elon made it clear—if anything happened to Jacob, Malone wouldn’t have to come looking for him.
After Elon left, Malone called Joey and warned him to stop taking cash payouts in broad daylight. Joey told Malone that it was his job to handle things.
