The Tuesday, March 18 episode of Beyond the Gates wasn’t exactly drama-free, even though Anita and Vernon Dupree had high hopes for a peaceful breakfast.
What Happened On Beyond The Gates?
The Duprees lorded over the dining room at The Fairmont Crest Country Club. They had a family breakfast at their reserved table. The daughters and granddaughters listened to Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) as they retold their origin story as a couple. One that took them from marching in D.C. to a theatre in Chicago.
While Martin (Brandon Clabyon) and Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) busied themselves elsewhere, Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix), Kat (Colby Muhammad), Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla), and Dani (Karla Mosley) were present and accounted for at various times. Other than the Anita/Vernon history lesson, topics of conversation included Kat’s new man and her dissatisfaction with Eva (Ambyr Michelle) wearing her dress to Nicole’s banquet.
Chelsea and Dani were a little late. A proud Dani secured a special dress for Chelsea’s upcoming fashion show. Her mother’s excitement and her big smiles made it impossible for Chelsea to tell Dani she wanted to stop modeling. At the Dupree breakfast, Anita expressed how proud she was of Dani.
Knowing that Kat and Tomas (Alex Alegria) were about to have a meet-up at the FCCC, Vernon expressed wanting to get to know the young man even though he worked for Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett).
Later, Hayley (Marquita Goings) arrived and remained invisible to the staff. She sat at a table only to leave when nobody waited on her.

Bill’s Boys Club
Earlier at Bill and Hayley’s, Bill entertained his firm employees Tomas and Mike Davis (Pierce Lackey), who took any chance he could to talk about women in a sleazy manner. The boss man is attempting to ease back into his work. After all, he just ended his honeymoon.
Later, after her sojourn to the country club, Hayley came home and complained to Bill about the cloak of invisibility that she apparently wore. Nobody waited on her or even looked at her as she sat at that table. Bill said he would bring down the city for her. He will make people respect her. She didn’t understand how she was the outsider when Dani shot up her wedding.

Law
Naomi had an important meeting at Orphey Gene’s. Three women arrived and they proceeded to blow Naomi’s mind with their request. They wanted her to help them sue her father’s firm. And while this isn’t so much about Bill’s actions, it would require Naomi going head-to-head with her dad.
The women told Naomi about Mike Davis’s inappropriate comments, nonconsensual touches, and petty revenge tactics. It all resulted in subpar reviews and they were all ultimately fired. They felt Naomi was the best one fo the job since she knows Bill inside and out and would know how to win against him. She already has a lot of experience arguing with him.
Naomi consulted with her husband, who already knew about the impending case. He had heard the rumors He wanted to make sure that this was something his wife could do. And Naomi looked excited to tackle such a big challenge.

Order
Before Jacob (Jibre Hordges) met up with Naomi he was at stakeout with the crankiest legendary detective around, Marcel Malone (Darry W. Handy). He was all about coasting to his retirement when he can relax into life with him and his boat. However, the two witnessed Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) receiving money from some mystery man.
The hand-off was obviously suspicious but Marcel didn’t want to do anything about it just yet. Meanwhile Jacob was ready to bring Joey in, which would result in a much smaller payoff. Jacob looked like he didn’t get or like Marcel’s way of doing things.
Rivalry Heats Up
Back at the country club, Kat and Eva continued to get into it. Kat wasn’t having Eva trying to steal Kat’s life. As for Eva, she flirted with Tomas knowing full well that he has something going on with Kat. These two are like oil and water and didn’t contain their mutual dislike.

A Down Dani
Dani was the epitome of fake it until you make it in the Tuesday episode. First, her emotions soared as she solidified the deal for Chelsea’s fashion show. At breakfast, she was all smiles and acting like things were normal with her family. Afterward was a different story, however.
When she got home, she drank the better part of a bottle of vodka and then passed out on the floor. Before she fell asleep, she looked sad and destroyed.
