The Beyond the Gates recap for Monday, March 17, sees Andre and Ashley deal with his impromptu and impulsive attempt at a kiss while Derek finally gets released from the hospital. Ted warns Nicole to stop searching for Sherry Carter. Meanwhile, Eva eavesdrops on their conversation. Pam helps Dani clean up her mess at the newlyweds’ new abode, but unfortunately, they don’t do a good enough job. Hayley can immediately tell something’s wrong.
What Happened On Beyond The Gates?
The action picked up right from Friday with the kiss between Ashley (Jen Jacob) and Andre (Sean Freeman). Or should we say, the almost kiss between Ashley and Andre? Because Ashley shut down whatever Andre decided to try. He severely misread the moment, and Ashley let him know that. She also let him know that she was completely in love with Derek (Ben Gavin). Andre walked away with his tail between his legs.
At the hospital, Derek thankfully didn’t witness the kiss. Although he pulled right up in his wheelchair right after the almost kiss happened. He announced that he could finally go home, and after getting a little lovey-dovey right there in the hospital, Ashley took Derek home so she could give him some more TLC and a non-alcoholic beer.
They’ve been together for two years, and they both like the direction of their relationship. Ashley urged Derek not to run into burning buildings to get her attention.

Impromptu Kisses, Impromptu Psych Session
After leaving the hospital, Andre headed to Casa Richardson, where he had an agenda. He dropped off the photos from the awards banquet but also needed some of Nicole’s award-worthy advice. The psychiatrist didn’t waste time letting Andre know what was what after he confessed what he did with Ashley.
Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) told Andre that he needed to stay away from Ashley because she was completely in love with Derek. In fact, he could see that with his own eyes. Andre agreed but couldn’t figure out why he would go after someone unavailable. He had never gone after her before she was with Derek. And typically, he said he didn’t go after attached women. Andre’s having a bit of a crisis.

Family Quality Time
Apparently, one of Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) and Smitty’s (Mike Manning) rules is that Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) and Samantha (Najah Jackson) do their homework downstairs, where they can see them doing the work. Clearly, something was up with Tyrell, maybe a problem he had at school. He didn’t want to talk about it, and, more importantly, he didn’t want his parents to know.
However, they noticed their kids were giving each other shady looks. So, the dads had to dad and asked their kids what was up. Tyrell wouldn’t say anything, so Samantha started talking about one of her issues to deflect from whatever was happening with her brother. She explained how someone asked her out, but she wasn’t allowed to date, which was another of their rules. But it sounded like they decided to revisit the rule.
Meanwhile, Tyrell finally revealed he was having issues with Calculous. But it was clear that this wasn’t his primary problem.

The Sherry Carter Search
Nicole needed to track down Sherry (Trisha Mann-Grant), so she asked Eva (Ambyr Michelle) for help. Her husband, however, felt the need to tell Nicole to stop the search for this woman and end her fixation. A few days ago, this woman was standing on the ledge of the hospital rooftop. Then, she showed up at Nicole’s ceremony as a beverage server. Obviously, there was something wrong with this woman, and it wasn’t up to Nicole to treat her.
Nicole didn’t appreciate Ted (Maurice Johnson) telling her what to do. He eventually lightened up and claimed he was just trying to protect Nicole. She understood. Little did Ted and Nicole realize that Eva eavesdropped on their entire conversation. And while she came off soft when Nicole talked, Eva seemed like she was out for Ted and would be reporting all of this back to her mother.

Dani’s Disastrous Antics
A drunk and passed-out Dani (Karla Mosley) woke up and realized how much of a mess she had made by breaking into Bill (Timon Durrett) and Hayley’s house like that. She drank their wine, broke their frame, and scratched their photo. She needed help, so she called her oldest friend, Pamela (Cady McClain), who arrived in time to get Dani and the place back into shape—not for Bill and Hayley’s sake, but because Dani didn’t want Anita (Tamara Tunie) to find out.
Unfortunately, they didn’t do a good enough job. When Bill and Hayley (Marquita Goings) returned home, they almost immediately realized that Dani had broken into their abode and messed with things. While Bill wanted to take care of it, Hayley didn’t let him. She headed straight to Dani’s and walked in without invitation because it was her right.
She also broke a frame of Dani’s. Only fair, right? Hayley proceeded to tear Dani a new one, including calling her the villain. She stood up to Dani and let her know that she needed to stop obsessing over Bill and Hayley’s marriage. And that she needed to stop all this madness, or she’d take out a restraining order on her, and if she defied that, she would get sent to jail, and they would let the charges stand. Finally, Hayley said, “Don’t try me again, Dani. You don’t want to see what happens when you do.”
Hayley told Bill he needed to be super proud of her for standing up to Dani and that Dani would no longer be a problem. Meanwhile, a dejected Dani and Andre ended the episode together. They weren’t up for their usual behavior, however. Instead, these two poor souls, who had a very bad day, ended up in each other’s arms, not talking about the awfulness that had transpired.
