The Beyond the Gates recap for Friday, March 14, sees Dani travel to places she shouldn’t while Bill and Hayley are already back from their Italian honeymoon. Plus, Andre and Derek are feeling feelings they have no business feeling. And Kat and Tomas have their date.
What Happened On Beyond The Gates?
Dani (Karla Mosley) did a drive-by at her parents’ house. It was the Dupree Family Dinner night, but she quickly made an excuse to get out of it. Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) was on to her sister, but Vernon (Clifton Davis) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) gave their daughter the benefit of the doubt. Although, they jokingly didn’t want to claim her, either.
What Dani really did was break into Bill (Timon Durrett) and Hayley’s (Marquita Goings) new home. Thanks to George, the Fairmont Crest Security Guard, she got in despite joking that the gift she was holding was a bomb. What could go wrong?
Little did Dani know that Bill and Hayley cut their Italian honeymoon short. Bill had urgent business to attend to, which was okay because they shared a sexy limo ride from Manhattan back to FC. So Dani had time. Unfortunately, Dani didn’t want to leave her gift for the couple and go. Instead, she opened a bottle of expensive wine and inhaled it. All the while, she insisted that she was over Bill.
In the end, Dani basically drank the entire bottle of red wine and passed out on The “Shamiltons” sofa. Of course, Dani called it a “disco nap.” Will she get out of that house before Bill and Hayley get home?

Dreaming and Denying
Firefighter Derek (Ben Gavin) wasn’t just concussed. He was cranky. As Ashley (Jen Jacob) cared for him, the thought of Ashley and Andre (Sean Freeman) weighed on his mind. When Andre arrived to get photos of the hero who rescued a cat in a less-than-ideal situation (read: collapsed ceiling), Derek wasn’t having it. He shied away from the spotlight. But he also didn’t like Andre so close to his girlfriend. After Andre left the room, Derek let loose with some sarcastic comments that really got to Ashley. Fortunately for Derek, he was able to sidestep them and kept his dysfunctional issues to himself.
Later, Derek dreamed that Ashley dropped a bombshell on him. She said she loved Andre, and they were moving in together and naming their new cat Derek. Ouch.
In reality, Andre and Ashley watched the Nicole awards ceremony video he produced. Afterwards, Andre thought they were having a moment and he went in for the kiss only to be denied. Once again, ouch.

First Date Conversation
Even though Kat (Colby Muhammad) missed her mother’s big ceremony, she arrived back in town and was extremely apologetic to her mom. Then she rushed Nicole out the door to her dinner with her parents. Kat had other priorities, namely her date with Tomas (Alex Alegria).
The two enjoyed a dinner of coq au vin and wine, and Kat proceeded to get a couple of things off her chest. One, she didn’t cook dinner. Her parents did. Tomas took that in stride. He was just relieved she didn’t confess something monumental. Second, she told him that she was a virgin and that she was simply waiting for the right guy to come along.
So far, that hadn’t happened. When she asked him if he was disappointed, he said he wasn’t. Tomas said all the right things. And Kat definitely made it sound like they would have future dates. Tomas also earned bonus points for telling the whole truth about Bill Hamilton, the boss man. It sounded like working for the man was a lot, although it could potentially be rewarding at the same time. is Tomas telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth about everything?

Alert: New Characters
We were introduced to George, the security guard, who was easily swayed by Dani and stayed loyal to her in the face of her parents. In other news, the name of the Dupree family cook was Rowena. Wonder if we’ll ever meet her?
