The Beyond The Gates recap for Wednesday, March 5, sees Kat instantly distrusting Eva and calling her out while Eva calls out Dana “Leslie” over Laura’s accident. Plus, Martin shocks Nicole, Doug gets way in over his head, and so much more. It was a day full of drama and intrigue in Fairmont Crest.
What Happened On Beyond The Gates?
Eva (Ambyr Michelle) was on top of things at Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) office. Nicole was surprised by how she had everything together. Eva tried not to bring up what happened at the wedding, but Nicole addressed it.
Jacob (Jibre Hordges) poured over the footage from Laura’s crime, trying to figure out who was on the motorcycle.
After Nicole left, Eva started digging through files and drawers, and she found a key. Kat (Colby Muhammad) walked in, asking who Eva was. Eva introduced herself and explained how she got the gig. Kat didn’t like Eva’s style, and she called her out for snooping. Eva said she was looking for a stapler, but there was one right there. Kat set Eva straight on not getting in her business, and Kat told Eva it was a short-term job so not to get comfortable.
Ted (Maurice Johnson) walked in, and Eva flashed back to her mom, talking about him being Eva’s father. He introduced himself to Eva, and she was flustered as she gave him her name. Ted praised Eva for doing a good job. Jacob showed up, and Eva left but eavesdropped. Jacob said there was no way to figure out who drove the motorcycle. He said the police had hit a dead end.

Gossip
At Orphey Gene’s, “Leslie” (Trisha Mann-Grant) looked sick as Mona (Karan Kendrick) and Jan (Jerri Tubbs) talked about Laura’s surgery and the fact that the police were chasing down leads on who ran Laura off the road.
Mona gave Leslie credit for suggesting Eva fill in as Nicole’s assistant. They all talked about how eager Eva was, and Mona said the sky was the limit for the younger woman. The women discussed Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley’s (Marquita Goings) wedding disaster. Leslie thought he’d deserved every bit of what Dani (Karla Mosley) did, and Jan agreed. However, Mona was upset on Nicole’s behalf.
In Too Deep
Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) finished a session with her trainer, Diego (Carlos Enrique Palacio), at the club, and Doug (Jason Graham) walked in. They had breakfast, and he hoped she hadn’t felt neglected. Vanessa suggested he slow down, but Doug said he’d been really busy with patients since the holidays.
Diego interrupted and asked Vanessa about one of her listings. His cousin was interested in it, and they made an appointment to for Diego to view it after breakfast, and he left. Things got a little awkward as Doug checked horse races on his phone. He ran out in a hurry, and Vanessa noted that a poker chip fell out of his pocket. Doug played it off as something from a charity game.
Doug lost a game. A woman came in, and he asked for some house credit. However, she said it was against policy. Randy came in, and Doug asked him to vouch for him, but Randy did not want to get Joey involved in loaning Doug money. Randy suggested he go to Vanessa for some money.
Vanessa met Diego at the property, and he wanted something else than a tour. They began kissing.
It’s All Beyond The Gates
Smitty (Mike Manning) and Martin (Brandon Claybon) came in after a game of basketball. Martin got a phone call, and he refused to comment on Dani’s situation. They talked about journalism. Martin complained about the press, but Martin understood.
Kat met Nicole at the club. She argued that Eva wasn’t the right person to fill in as Nicole’s assistant, but Nicole didn’t agree. She reassured Kat that she’d done her due diligence. They went in and sat down with Smitty and Martin. Ted joined them, too.
Talk at the table turned to the video of Dani at the wedding. Vanessa showed up and talked to the family for a minute. Ted left, and Kat bothered her mom again about not listening to her concerns about Eva.
Kat left, and Smitty sat down, and he and Nicole talked. Smitty admitted he felt lost now that his and Martin’s teens didn’t need him as much. She suggested Smitty channel himself into something positive for himself. He mentioned that he’d considered getting back into journalism, and Nicole wondered how Martin felt, but Smitty admitted he hadn’t told him.
Martin returned, and Smitty left. He wanted to talk to Nicole about the next step in his career. He stunned her by revealing he planned to run for president. Nicole was thrilled.
Accusations
Eva met Dana “Leslie” at home. She told her mom that she met Ted. Eva told Dana how it went, and she said that she couldn’t talk. She declared Ted was fake. Eva was upset that Ted didn’t recognize her as his daughter at all. Dana praised Eva for handling herself well. She promised Eva that their day was coming soon.
Eva told her mom how awful Kat was too, and Dana commiserated with her. She also gave Eva some advice on how to handle her. Eva also said Jacob stopped by to discuss Laura’s crash. Dana said that Laura’s accident was just an accident, but Eva wasn’t so sure.
Eva said she felt guilty benefitting from Laura’s misfortune, and she wondered if Dana had run Laura off the road, but Dana denied it. Dana asked if her daughter was getting cold feet, and Eva said she was all in. All Eva had to do was get them to trust her, and Dana would make sure their world crashed down while Evan took her name and birthright for herself.
Duties
Jacob met his dad at Orphey Gene’s, and he updated him about not being able to find out who ran Laura off the road. Jacob was also upset that he hadn’t arrested Dani for pulling a gun. However, his dad told him he had an obligation to his family too.
