The Beyond The Gates recap for Wednesday, February 26, reveals that Vernon and Anita ask the unthinkable of the Duprees while ususpecting Laura is forced off the road by a motorcycle. Plus, Martin suffers bad dreams while Vanessa uses a disguise, but why? It was a day filled with drama in Fairmont Crest.
What Happened On Beyond The Gates?
At home, Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) reminisced about how simple life was before they had children, discussing how they accomplished things with civil disobedience. Anita declared she could kill Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) with her bare hands. She and Vernon agreed that Martin had to be protected even if Dani (Karla Mosley) had to pay the price.
They alluded to a situation that they never spoke of. Vernon told Anita he had no regrets, and she agreed. They texted the family to meet at their home.
Martin (Brandon Claybon) suffered a bad dream while snoozing on the couch at home, and Smitty (Mike Manning) woke him up. Later, Smitty told Martin he thought the dreams were about something he didn’t want to remember, and Martin got upset. He even said he’d move to the guest room. In the middle of their argument, he got a text from his grandparents.

A Warning
At Bill’s office, he sent everyone but Dani out. He talked down to Dani, and she slapped him. Dani wanted answers from Bill about him and Hayley (Marquita Goings) buying a house in Fairmont Crest. Bill said the zip code was the best in the area, but Dani reminded her ex that it was her family connections that made him. However, Bill declared he’d made himself.
Bill told Dani that he hadn’t intended to hurt her. Dani wondered how he could treat her so poorly. Bill said it wasn’t about her, but instead, it was about what he needed — Hayley. Dani continued trying to discuss it, but Bill asked her to accept that their situation had changed. He urged Dani to wish him and Hayley well, but Dani hoped that Bill’s life was misery. Before Dani left, Bill warned her not to hit Hayley again.
Dani declared, “I’m not afraid of you.” As she walked out, she told Hayley that she wasn’t special and that the past was a prologue. Dani got onto the elevator and broke down sobbing.
Hayley returned, and she wasn’t happy about their photo being broken by Dani swinging the club. She worried about Bill’s lost relationships with his daughters. Bill said that Hayley reawakened him. He said he’d never be sorry he chose her.

A Family Affair
At Ted’s (Maurice Johnson) office, he praised Kat’s (Colby Muhammad) business acumen. Andre (Sean Freeman) was there to get some video for Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) biography. Andre talked about losing his parents in a plane crash and how tough it was. Ted said how unbearable it was to lose Stan and Ira so suddenly. Nicole and Ted stopped flying together after that. Andre credited his aunt and uncle for saving his life.
Kat tried to take Andre’s picture, but he ended up taking a photo of the family instead. After Nicole and Ted left, Kat got Andre’s okay to be at Chelsea’s (RhonniRose Mantilla) photoshoot the next day. He updated Kat on what he’d been doing while he was gone. She praised him for putting his life back together in the decade since his parents died.
Parental Problems
Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) marveled at Chelsea’s public life. Chelsea asked her sister for some advice about starting a new purse line with Kat. She stunned Naomi by revealing she planned to quit modeling.
Naomi advised Chelsea to do what worked best for her, and Chelsea admitted she didn’t want to be under Dani’s control. Of course, Chelsea worried that their mom was too fragile for her to make such a change, but Naomi advised her younger sister to cut the cord.
They got a text to go to their grandparents. Naomi went off about how awful their dad was for dumping Dani and buying a home in Fairmont Crest with Hayley. She said she despised their dad because of how shady he was. Naomi said she didn’t love their dad anymore, and Chelsea seemed surprised.
Disguised and Disbelief
Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) went out dressed in disguise as Incognito Taylor. A fan approached and tried to come onto her. Although she was tempted, Vanessa said she didn’t get intimate with her fans. Dani barged up to Vanessa, and she wanted to know why Vanessa wore sunglasses. She also noticed that the man at the table wasn’t Doug (Jason Graham). Vanessa said he was a role player, but Dani didn’t believe him, so Vanessa introduced him as Zeke before dismissing him.
Dani sat and she talked about how painful things were with Bill. She said she’d decided to leave for Paris after Chelsea’s photoshoot, and Vanessa was fully on board. Dani got a text to meet at her parents’, and she said if Bill had done anything else to hurt her, she couldn’t be held responsible for her actions.
Shady Dealings
Doug waited in a car, and Randy (Jason Graham) got in. He handed Randy a small package, and they shook hands with Randy saying they were all good.
Dana “Leslie” (Trisha Mann-Grant) ate at the diner with Jan (Jerri Tubbs) and Mona (Karan Kendrick). They spilled the tea over what Dani did to Hayley at the club. Leslie tried to ask about Nicole, and Mona very firmly said Nicole deserved every blessing.
At Nicole’s, Laura (Destiny Love) gave Mona a bracelet. Nicole worried she’d missed an occasion, but it was just because. She gave them both the night off early. Mona was happy to go to choir practice. Laura wanted to do some shopping for her upcoming trip to Maui, and Nicole mentioned that’s where she met Ted “a thousand years ago” at a medical conference. Nicole left for the family meeting.
Laura gathered her things and left Nicole’s. As she drove, a motorcycle ran up behind her causing her to crash. At Dana’s, she walked in with a motorcyle helmet, which she kissed when she took off.
The Unthinkable
At Anita and Vernon’s Chelsea, Naomi, and Kat enjoyed their grandparents piano and some food. Dani showed up, and she took food off Chelsea’s plate. In another corner, Martin asked Nicole how he could support Aunt Dani, and Nicole suggested he validates how Dani felt, and he agreed to the assignment.
Dani demanded to know why they were all there before she said she was going to Paris the next day. However, Vernon said, “that won’t do.” Anita told everybody they were going to Bill and Hayley’s wedding, and everybody was shocked to hear the Duprees were attending…including Dani.
Dani said, no. Anita said that Duprees didn’t cower. She declared that Bill would have to marry Hayley in front of their pissed off faces. Plus, she required the entire community. Anita suggested they all radiate disapproval.
Dani said no again, and Vernon followed her. He told Dani they never asked anything. of her, but not for this. He asked Dani to trust him and do it for him, and she reluctantly agreed.
At Dani’s Chelsea and Naomi showed up, and Dani said Bill somehow got to her parents. Chelsea and Naomi had plans to cause issues. They told their mother how sorry they were about everything.
