While Dani went into momager mode to Samantha and Chelsea’s chagrin, and Leslie denied doing anything to Laura — again. The men dropped some knowledge about their lives. At least, we think all of them did in the Friday, April 11 episode of Beyond the Gates.

What We Learned About Ted
Andre’s documentary triggered Ted (Maurice Johnson) to confess. He watched Nicole’s interview, and instead of talking about the nurses — which is what the doc is about — Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) talked about the times the therapist needed therapy. One of those times was when Martin was sick, and she wasn’t doing a very good job of handling it. What was worse was Ted wasn’t there. He said he was stuck in traffic. And Nicole had to get Martin to the hospital herself.
In reality, that was the time he was unfaithful to Nicole. Apparently, they had experienced a series of miscarriages, and they wouldn’t give up. They kept trying to get pregnant. Life was clinical, and it was a rough patch for them. He had met Dana (Trisha Mann-Grant), who now goes by Leslie. She was quirky and silly and fun, meaning with her, he didn’t have to be so serious and deal with things like death or think about their inability to have a baby.
Andre (Sean Freeman) gave Ted a judgment-free zone to tell him the whole sordid story. Well, almost the whole story. There were some details he left out. While he mentioned she had had an abortion and left town, he didn’t talk about that mystery lawyer who helped him out. Ted needed Andre to see that he was no better than Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett). After he paid Dana to leave town, he was scared straight. He became the faithful husband Nicole deserved.
Of course, Dana’s back, and Ted now knows that she wasn’t quirky so much as she was unstable. And he hoped he could keep this affair a secret. Not if she has her way.

What We Learned About Joey
Who knows if anything Joey (Jon Lindstrom) says is actually the truth? After all, initially, he was looking for a home for his mother, but that was just a front. But if we’re to believe what he told Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) in Friday’s episode, then Joey used to be married once upon a time. It was right when he was starting to build his empire. And even though his wife was amazing, he chose continually chose work and took her for granted.
Eventually, she cheated on him with one of his pit bosses, and Joey sent him packing. He didn’t quite tell Vanessa the specifics, but it seemed permanent.

What We Learned About Doug
We learned that Doug’s life has veered out of control. By day, Doug (Jason Graham) is working a high-pressure job as a cardiologist at the hospital, performing surgery after surgery. By night, he’s playing high-risk poker games late into the night. He’s getting maybe four hours of sleep a night if that.
His messy extracurricular activities have officially affected his work. He had an emergency surgery where he operated on a kid. He couldn’t finish the operation because his hand wouldn’t stop shaking, and he couldn’t concentrate. As a result, he had to turn the operation over to his colleague. He told Randy (Maurice P. Kerry) that he would stop going to the casino. That’s news that Randy didn’t want to hear because Joey would not be happy. His plan is to get Doug under his thumb.
He wants the dysfunctional doctor to owe him. Randy might have to work extra to get Doug back to the poker tables.
