After learning about June’s kids in the Monday, July 28 episode of Beyond the Gates, we couldn’t wait for the Regina/June confrontation on Tuesday, July 29. June definitely recognized her sister and remembered some of their past. However, her memory of events from the past seemed spotty at best, non-existent even.
The Sisters Do Not Reconnect
Regina (Jacinte Blankenship) and June’s bond is definitely stretched so thin that it’s barely there. They haven’t seen each other in years, and June (Jasmine Burke) struggles to figure out what is going on and why her sister is there. In fact, she wants nothing to do with her sister. So far, June has balked at every opportunity to live in a safe place instead of under the overpass.
Regina interacts with her sister based on everything that has happened in the past. Her sister was an addict, and it was exhausting for her to deal with someone with those issues. And, obviously, she doesn’t forgive her sister for being such a mess that she lost her children. June doesn’t want to live with her sister, and Regina isn’t offering in the first place.
But June is acting strangely. There are times she can’t finish her thoughts. The sentences aren’t flowing at all, especially after she spots the photo on her sister’s phone. It’s the photo that she carries around and protects with her life.

June Reacts to the Photo of Her Children
When June sees the special photo on Regina’s phone, she starts freaking out. She doesn’t know how it got on there, and she insists that it’s hers. The thing is that June doesn’t recognize that those are her children in that photo.
She tells Regina, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) that it was just a photo she found somewhere. But then why is she so attached to it? Why is she lost when she can’t find the photo?
Regina realizes that June doesn’t remember that those are her kids. June denies ever having kids. She says she didn’t abandon anyone. When Regina says the names Ron and Cecile, June looks off as if she were trying to remember something, or she flashed to them, or something. “Pictures can’t feel. Pictures ain’t real,” she says.

What Went Wrong?
June insisted that Regina had thrown her away, while Regina stated the exact opposite. Her story is that June left. She also alludes to something from June’s past. Jacob and Naomi pressed her on it after June left; she didn’t want to go there.
So there has to be some sort of trauma that June experienced that led to her addiction or led to a breakdown of sorts. And this could have contributed to June’s abandoning her children.
When will we find out the whole story? Also, when will we get confirmation that Ron and Cecile are Tyrell and Samantha?
