In the December 12 episode of Beyond the Gates, Vanessa continued to be all in with Joey, and it did not go well for her. After Joey showered her with a very public display of affection at WinterFest, Vanessa assumed they were on the same page. It turns out she was very, very wrong.

Key Takeaways

  • Vanessa wanted it all with the casino owner.
  • Joey pumped the brakes over her behavior.
  • This isn’t the last of Vanessa and Joey as trouble looms for both of them.

Here’s What Happened On BTG

Still glowing from Joey (Jon Lindstrom) taking their relationship public, Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) had a brief meeting with Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) and Eva (Ambyr Michelle). Vanessa had Joey on the brain and misinterpreted what the meeting was about.

Eva wanted help with the free clinic, while Vanessa thought they were looking for male companionship.

After giving Eva some advice, Vanessa found her man at Uptown and passionately kissed him in front of everyone. They had some witty banter, which included Joey grabbing her hand to show her a little bit of affection.

Things took a turn when Vanessa wanted some reassurances about their future. Vanessa wanted a commitment, while Joey didn’t want another wife. Joey made it crystal clear that he won’t make promises to Vanessa that he has no intention of keeping.

His words set off Vanessa and sounded alarm bells for Joey. The casino owner reminded her about her dead husband, Doug (Jason Graham)

Vanessa didn’t take kindly to his comments but promised him she wasn’t his cheating ex-wife. The remark pushed Joey to his brink, so he walked out on her as he declared that she had gone too far. Vaness was left sitting all alone.

Why It Matters

The latest fight between Vanessa and Joey added a new layer to this romance or relationship, whatever it is being called. Vanessa seemed to be using Joey as a way to shove her grief and guilt over Doug way down.

Instead of having that mourning period, Vanessa has channeled all that energy into Joey and is essentially trying to replace him with him.

Then there’s Joey himself. The bad guy that women fall all over. However, in true bad guy fashion, Joey isn’t here to be changed, something Vanessa clearly tried to do during the future discussion.

Despite their differing perspectives on romance, there are signs of genuine feelings between these two deeply troubled individuals. That means even though Joey walked out on Vanessa, it likely isn’t the end of their relationship at all.

The Fallout

Joey drew a line in the sand with Vanessa, setting a boundary that could honestly backfire on him because of her clear obsession with him. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Vanessa could become even more determined to make Joey into a commitment kind of man.

Given Vanessa’s feelings for Joey and his line of work, trouble seems destined to find them. Then again, the fact that Vanessa pushed him just might be the thing that allows Joey to be more open.

After all, Joey and Vanessa are a lot more alike than even he wants to admit. There’s a bad girl in Vanessa that she’s ready to unleash for sure.
