Celebrating and Looking Fabulous
While BTG didn’t win the Image Award — Hulu’s Reasonable Doubt took the trophy — the cast celebrated together and mingled with other movie and television stars.
Ernestine Johnson (Shanice) looked elegant in blue, and she savored every moment of the experience. On Instagram, she wrote, “My mom would have been SCREAMING tonight as I walked the carpet at the @/naacpimageawards you hear me?! Word to Mama AJ. I know you are proud mom. 💙🙏🏽 I’m so grateful for this journey, these moments and these blessings!”
Morrison added a second post featuring a cast video plus additional photos, including one she took with soap alum and current A-list Hollywood star, Michael B. Jordan. Jordan took home a couple of Image Awards: Best Actor in a Leading Role and Entertainer of the Year.
Karla Mosley (Dani) and Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole) teamed up for their two Instagram posts (and recently marked BTG’s first anniversary). First, they were together before the awards. Karla wrote: We are taking you with us from prep to the red carpet!!!!! Be sure to tune in to @/bet tonight to catch the @/naacpimageawards – you might just see two faces you know.”
And then we saw them in full glam mode in the audience before they got up on stage to help spread the good word about their soap. Karla was beyond excited to be there. “My best friend just reminded me to let you all know that WE MADE IT!!!!” she wrote. And in the video, Duplaix waved, while Karla said, “Okay, we made it. Say hi, baby!!!!”
Over on X, formerly Twitter, Mike Manning (Smitty) dropped a two-part post celebrating the evening with a series of pics of the cast, and his view from the NAACP Image Awards after party. In his message, he said: “Thank you @/naacpimageaward for a wonderful weekend. I was honored to be there & grateful for the love for Beyond the Gates. And of course the after party was 💯.”
Part two of Mike Manning’s photo dump from the awards included a solo shot of him on the carpet. Also on the carpet were pics of the actor with his fellow cast members and one with his TV husband, Brandon Claybon. Finally, there was one with him, Duplaix, Mosley, and Trish Mann-Grant (Leslie). He wrote: “A few more shots from a magical weekend. I’m so grateful to share space w/ this group. ✨”
Speaking of Mann-Grant, she posted her own special look at the NAACP Image Awards: “The 57th NAACP IMAGE AWARDS! Representing with the BEYOND THE GATES FAM! Thanks to darienisaac for doing my makeup 🙏🏾”
Ambyr Michelle (Eva) looked stunning on the red (or should we say blue) carpet. Her post included a series of videos, including a quick shot of the actress with Michael B. Jordan.
Like everyone else in the BTG cast, Michelle was grateful to be at the event.”An NAACP Image Award Nominee with my @/beyondthegatescbs family 🫶🏽 Thank you @/naacpimageawards for having us. 🤍 Congrats @/michaelbjordan ✨
Colby Muhammad (Kat) couldn’t contain her excitement about the experience in one post, either. In her first post, she shared her thanks: “Thank you NAACP Image Awards for having me! 💙:
In her second post, she featured a series of photos and videos. In one video, Clifton Davis (BTG’s Vernon) danced the night away. Muhammad posted, did interviews, connected with friends, and had a blast.
“Still on a high from Day 2 of the NAACP Image Award Weekend 💙 this night included t-stancing with an old friend, dancing with my castmates, selfies with my man, and ogling at the sheer radiance and beauty of so many black artists I look up to. How did I get so lucky? Nobody but God. 😭✨”
And finally, Brandon Claybon (Martin) shared a post with his fans on X. “A time was had last night at the @naacpimageawards. What more can I say?! A true honor to celebrate with my castmates from @beyondthegatescbs and witness all the black excellence in one building. 🖤🖤🖤”
