In 2025, Karla Mosley was Soap Hub‘s first BTG Performer of the Month back in March. And then she was Performer of the Month again in September. It’s only fitting that she now becomes Beyond the Gates‘ very first Performer of the Year. Mosley is the type of actor who glows and sparkles as she makes a character her own. From the moment Dani Dupree was introduced, we knew we were in for something wild and fabulous.
Key Takeaways
2025 Performer of the Year: Karla Mosley
Karla Mosley edged out the great Tamara Tunie (Anita) for the win. And she did it with the help of the BTG writers, who gave Dani an incredible arc filled with pain, rage, insecurities, mistakes, and then glory.
Dani’s Wild Beginnings
When you look at her character now, can you believe Dani started the series by shooting up her ex-husband’s wedding? Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) was marrying his daughter’s best friend. Who else could handle that deliciously over-the-top drama, then give us an impromptu photo shoot when taking her mug shot at the precinct? Mosley, that’s who. It has seriously been a joy to watch her play Dani this year.
Post-Divorce Angst
For the longest time, Dani couldn’t move on from the husband who did her wrong. She would show up at his office to talk to him, even if it was with golf clubs in hand. She confronted Hayley (Marquita Goings) on a regular basis and even broke into their house while Hayley and Bill were away on their honeymoon.
Dani was sad and even a little pathetic during those times. Dani made all kinds of mistakes, and she drank too much. We even wondered if she had a drinking problem. She withstood all those digs Bill made about her age and her character. But it didn’t matter. Mosley had us rooting for her character to shake it off and put that man in her past where he belonged.
Team Dandre
Somehow, Dani turned her life around. She worked to put her relationship with Bill into perspective. Yes, there will forever be a connection between the two. But she wanted better. She started her own business. She worked on her bonds with her daughters. And she entered a situationship with Andre (Sean Freeman).
Things started out as something fun. It wasn’t supposed to go anywhere. It was great to watch Mosley as Dani ended her denial and realized what she had with Andre was genuine and something to be cherished and nurtured. She was no longer in a marriage with a man who continually cheated on her. And she no longer had to give up her dreams and her life for her husband.
Now Dani is relishing being married to a man who knows how to treat her. He sees her despite their age difference. And she sees him. Anyway, Mosley looks like she’s having the time of her life every time she embodies Dani.
The Chemistry
Finally, we think that perhaps the actress possesses a superpower, in which she has chemistry with every actor. Her scenes sparkle with it. And it doesn’t matter what type of relationship: romantic, familial, friend, or foe. It’s a gift that keeps on giving. And BTG fans see it, too. They voted Mosley the rookie soap’s Performer of the Year.
