It’s really funny how Dani and Andre, and their newlywed selves, continue to act cool and unaffected (although we know they are affected). Meanwhile, Bill and Hayley are showing not-so-great sides of themselves. In the Thursday, October 9 episode of Beyond the Gates, insecurity, spiraling, spying, and duck barbecue sliders ruled.
The Couples
Team Dandre
Dani (Karla Mosley) and Andre (Sean Freeman) are fresh off rocking each other’s worlds (again) when hunger strikes. They are clearly in the ‘everything’s amazing’ part of the honeymoon phase, which is interesting considering they don’t live together, she won’t take his last name, and there are many people who are against them staying together.
But they know who they are to each other. And they know what they do for each other. Dani is loving the little things, like Andre remembering what she likes to eat. And Andre loves that she’s a former supermodel who actually eats real food. They are vibing, and their unconventional relationship seems to be running smoothly…for now.
Team Hill? Bayley?
Meanwhile, Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) was on the phone with the man he had tasked with gathering information on Andre. He wants to know everything about the photographer. And it’s his priority to get him out of Dani’s bed and away from her, he says.
As for Hayley (Marquita Goings), she wants what Dani and Andre are having, but Bill is too preoccupied to get it done. He lies and tells her he has to meet with a client, but he really is headed to Orphey Gene’s because his investigator clocked Andre as being there. Needless to say, Bill and Hayley do not feel connected at the moment.
Also, should we worry about Bill? Because when Hayley tells him that he’s her person ’til death do we part — was there a little tone there? Do we need to worry about the attorney (Will Dani’s wedding to Andre send Bill back to her on BTG)?
All Conflict, No Resolution
Hayley figures out Bill’s urgent meeting was a cover, so she heads over to Dani’s and acts a fool. She yells for Bill to come out. She’s looking upstairs for him and in the closets. And it’s crazy hilarious to see Hayley letting Dani see her sweat about her husband. It’s giving Dani much satisfaction and validation.
At Orphey Gene’s, Andre is just bopping along and paying for his takeout when Bill arrives looking very towering. He uses his height to intimidate Andre, but Andre doesn’t let that get to him. He refers to Bill’s “vintage vocab” after Hamilton calls him a gigolo. When Andre accused Bill of being a gigolo, well, that was classic. All the points went to Andre. He ultimately won this round and then left Bill wallowing in his dust.
But Andre should watch out. He may have won the battle, but Bill is sure not going to let Andre win the war.
What did you think of the confrontations? Also, yay for Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Smitty (Mike Manning) reuniting. Let’s hope it sticks. And Donnell (Alex Cheeks) and Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) celebrating Doug’s (Jason Graham) life was nice. That Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) — he sure can talk a good game.
