In the Monday, June 2 episode of Beyond the Gates, Sharon didn’t hold back during her confrontation. Actually, there was one thing she held back. She didn’t reveal what happened way back when that Anita should especially be wary of. Sharon even threatened to tell Vernon. In other news, after a really great exchange between Eva and Ted, Eva and Leslie got into it over key pieces of leverage. Plus, Kat’s Nancy Drew skills were on point. Unfortunately, her forensics detective skills weren’t.
No Justice No Peace for Anita
Wow, Sharon (Bonita Brisker) has our attention. Unfortunately, the woman walked out the door before she spilled what happened back in the day that Anita (Tamara Tunie) needs to fear. What did the Articulettes do that Vernon (Clifton Davis) may not want to find out about? Yes, count Anita as another Dupree family member who has a secret so terrible that she didn’t tell her significant other.

Sharon let loose on Anita and didn’t cut her any slack for maturity and growth over the years. No, Sharon thinks that Anita is the same old selfish person who wants everything to be about her. So this concert comeback is in jeopardy because Sharon doesn’t want her or Tracy (Maria Howell) to simply be Anita’s backup, who props up the group’s star. Sharon had this spectacular voice back in the day. And she entertained solo offers, but she said those offers dried up once Anita left.
On top of that, Dante Green, the group’s manager, spread false rumors about Sharon performing while drunk. Anita claimed to know nothing about the rumors spreading. Just like she didn’t know that the manager had Sharon and Tracy sign NDAs for a neat and tidy sum. Needless to say, all these years, Sharon has lived a quiet life while she had to watch Anita gain fame and fortune, with a heavy emphasis on the fortune.
So, what is this secret all about? Why does Anita take responsibility for some but not all of what happened back then? What decisions is she talking about?

Everybody Versus Leslie Thomas
Kat (Colby Muhammad) and Mona (Karan Kendrick) are really developing into ace private eyes. The two aren’t snowed at all when it comes to Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant). And they presented their evidence to Leslie’s face at Orphey Gene’s. Leslie, of course, laughed it off and shared some sarcastic bon mots to deflect any of the attention from her. Yet, she followed Kat to the police station because she wanted to be there when Kat filled Jacob (Jibre Hordges) in on the leather jacket and receipts.
Here’s where Kat went wrong, however. She put on the jacket and handled the receipts she found in it. The chain of evidence is now murky, and it’s going to make it hard for those items to be admissible. So Kat ultimately made things harder to nail Leslie. We know she won’t give up.

But Leslie has to be a little scared, right? After all, she started barking about taking a restraining order out on Kat. Jacob had a forensics expert friend work on the video evidence. And the jacket matches 1) the one in the video and 2) that of someone 5’7″ (Leslie’s height, probably).
So while that was encouraging, the fact that there are probably a million fingerprints on the jacket and receipts is a problem. Or should we say it would have been a bigger problem had Eva (Ambyr Michelle) not made off with Leslie’s gloves and helmet? Now, she has stored them in a secret place. That way, Leslie won’t attempt to throw her daughter under the bus again. Unfortunately, it also protects Leslie to a certain extent. So, Leslie will have to be nice to Eva, right?
