There’s a lot of potential fake and false situations going on Beyond the Gates. Hayley’s pregnancy, for one. And in the Wednesday, July 23 episode, we learned that Leslie faked her bruises around her neck and called the cops on Nicole. Then there’s Allison’s injury. We don’t want to think she’s lying about it. She blamed it on her abusive husband. At the very least, she is using that as an excuse to gain sympathy from Chelsea. Finally, Tomas is fronting as a nice guy when he’s anything but. What he is is bad for Kat.
Tomas is Hypocritical with a Capital H
Every time Tomas (Alex Alegria) and Eva (Ambyr Michelle) interact, he mostly lets her fly free with her little digs about Kat (Colby Muhammad). He doesn’t try too hard to defend the woman he’s seeing. But when Kat and he are together, he has no time for her Eva hate. Both women have reason to despise each other — their lives were recently blown up thanks to Ted (Keith D. Robinson).
They should be treated similarly. After Wednesday’s episode, it became clear that Tomas doesn’t even like Kat. So, why does he continue to see her? Because she’s the daughter of one of the Duprees? He likes the cache and the status that that brings? He’s all about Kat not getting him while Eva does. How about the fact that he doesn’t get Kat at all? And he doesn’t want to start.
If Tomas were doing this right, he would break up with Kat and then go after Eva. There’s no sister code there since the two despise each other with good reason. Under the guise of Eva being his friend, which she isn’t, he divulges all these personal tidbits about Kat to Eva.

Tomas Has No Business Telling All
Tomas admitted to Eva that Kat was a virgin. And while there’s nothing wrong or humiliating about that, that wasn’t his intel to share. He knows that Eva and Kat are at each other’s throats and that Eva could potentially use this against Kat. Even if she doesn’t intend to, it could happen in the heat of the moment.
But he didn’t stop there. He had just kissed Eva, but in another breath, he told her about how Kat isn’t a nice person. He also revealed details of the night that Kat wanted to have sex with him and how he was the one to put a stop to it. His reason was that he felt like he was part of her sexual to-do list. Why didn’t he tell Kat this?
He originally said he understood Kat wanting to take their relationship slowly. But now we’re doubting that he ever did. His boss is Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett), after all, and he sees the man as a mentor of sorts. And let’s just say Bill doesn’t make a good role model. So it’s not surprising that Tomas’s nice guy act is just an act.

Eva feels she doesn’t owe Kat anything, hence her walking out of Orphey Gene’s holding Tomas’s hand. But part of Eva has to feel like this is payback for what Kat just did to her, throwing her under the bus with the whole accreditation scandal. If Kat finds out about Eva and Tomas’s closeness, Eva will definitely have to watch out. But so will Tomas. He better navigate this Kat/Eva situation carefully.
What did you think of Tomas and Eva at Orphey Gene’s? Do you think Tomas and Kat should be together or Tomas and Eva?
