Kat’s true crime obsession keeps paying off. In the Friday, June 6 episode of Beyond the Gates, she discovered Eva wouldn’t be home for a while, so she hightailed it over to her room. And then she searched and searched for the evidence that could nail Leslie for Laura’s hit-and-run. While she was there, things got a little dicey.
Nancy Drew Chronicles
Kat (Colby Muhammad) did her best Dani (Karla Mosley) impression, and she talked her way into the hotel employee letting her into Eva’s room. She even played the sister card. After she was alone, she looked for the helmet and gloves. At first, she came up with nothing. However, when Eva (Ambyr Michelle) and Tomas (Alex Alegria) suddenly arrived, Kat hid under the bed, which was the best thing that could ever happen.
She ended up killing two birds with one stone. Consider this a win for Kat Richardson, the DMV’s resident Nancy Drew. Or maybe we should refer to her as Only Murders in the Building’s Mabel Mora, aka Selena Gomez?

Kat Discovered Gold
While under Eva’s bed, Kat struck gold. She found the bag with incriminating evidence against Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant). This time, she was ready; she had gloves on. But other than that, let’s hope these items will be admissible because she did (sort of) break into Eva’s room to get it.
Kat just had to be patient and wait for Tomas and Eva to leave, which they eventually did. Put one in the win column for Kat Richardson.

Kat Knows Where Tomas Stands
There was an added benefit from hiding under Eva’s bed. At Orphey Gene’s, Tomas and Eva bonded over a time-travel fantasy romance series of novels. When they got to her room, she lent Tomas one of those books because, apparently, he’s a serious reader of romance.
Even though the friends had a close moment, that’s all it was. Eva went in for the kiss, but Tomas wasn’t having it. He sees Eva as a friend (for now), but he told her that it was more than that with Kat. In fact, he wanted to see where things were going with her. Not Ice Cold Kat, like Eva called her.
Tomas didn’t see her that way. He loved their conversations, which he implied were deeper than Eva thought they would be. He will stay friends with Eva, but he was all about Kat, and hearing that put a big smile on Kat’s face.
