The Wednesday, April 2, episode of Beyond the Gates was brought to you by the letter “D.”

Denials

Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) was in supreme denial over the kiss. Of course, he put it all on Dani (Karla Mosley) and took no accountability for his part. The surprising element of this, however, was that while he had an agenda with Dani, it had nothing to do with the kiss. He insisted that he loved Hayley (Marquita Goings). Meanwhile, Dani was on to him. She knew after the kiss that he wanted something from her, which was to pave the way for his wife to be accepted at the country club. Please. Dani doesn’t owe Hayley anything.

Delusions

Speaking of Hayley, she continues to be deluded. It’s like she can’t comprehend the pain that her relationship with Bill has caused. She thinks that people at the club should instantly accept her. And while Dani has reacted badly to her circumstances, it’s like Hayley can’t make any concessions for why Dani’s acting like she’s acting. To her, everything should be right as rain.

Elsewhere, Dani’s delulu tendencies often get the best of her. Did she really think that Bill was going to leave Hayley just like that and reunite with her? Why would she even want him back, considering how he’s behaved towards her? She said it. She’s done everything he’s ever asked, but it still wasn’t enough. Dani’s better than that.

Distractions

Thankfully, Dani is self-aware enough not to sit around completely waiting for Bill to come to his senses. She’s also self-aware enough to realize her drinking is growing out of control. She’s doing her best to keep it from becoming a real problem. And she’s doing her best to keep herself busy so her mind doesn’t go to unwanted places. She invited Andre (Sean Freeman) over, and not only did she get a booty call, but she was also able to be honest with him. Now, if only he would be with her. Andre would rather keep his personal life to himself and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix), too.

Dark Truths

Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) are sure worried about Bill Hamilton. When they ran into Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and sat for drinks, they had a different reaction to Naomi’s lawsuit against her father’s law firm. Yes, they would support her. However, they worried about Bill retaliating should Naomi win. So, they attempted to nudge their granddaughter to drop the lawsuit.

Unfortunately for them, Naomi won’t be swayed. Vernon and Anita will have to devise a way to neuter Bill. They know that he knows too much and has too much power over them. The longer this lawsuit goes on, the more Bill will absolutely try to use the leverage he has over them to save his firm.

Finally, Jacob (Jibre Hordges) keeps finding himself in the right place at the wrong time. This time, he witnessed his partner, Detective Marcel Malone (Darryl W. Handy), accept money from Joey Armstrong (Joey Armstrong). And even though it was dark, he did it out in the open where anybody could see. Chief Elon Hawthorne (Malachi Malik) made up this bogus excuse, saying that Joey was a CI working for the cops. However, later, Jacob witnessed his dad come down on Malone. What will Jacob do? Whatever he does next, he could get in trouble with his dad, the police, and Joey.
