Beyond The Gates is coming up on one month since its premiere, and the soap opera joined other daytime dramas in something they do well — recasting. Keith D. Robinson soon takes over for Maurice Johnson as Dr. Ted Richardson.
BTG Recasts Ted
Deadline reported the unexpected news of Ted’s recast. You may recognize Robinson from his recurring role on ABC’s A Million Little Things or from Dreamgirls and All Eyes on Me.
On the show, Ted is married to Dr. Nicole Richardson (Daphnée Duplaix). Hints of a major downfall have been dropped over the last several weeks, and it appears as if Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) will have something to do with it. Robinson’s first airdates will come in May, so until then, it looks like Johnson will play Ted as he clashes with Leslie and gets to know Eva (Ambyr Michelle).
Johnson has been active on X (formerly Twitter) often tweeting with fans and making comments about Ted’s behavior. Most recently, he gave some love to fans of Ted’s penchant for wearing turtleneck shirts.
Robinson will join Tamara Tunie (Anita), Clifton Davis (Vernon), Karla Mosley (Dani), Timon Kyle Durrett (Bill), Sean Freeman (Andre), Marquita Goings (Hayley), Jibre Hordges (Jacob), RhonniRose Mantilla (Chelsea), Colby Muhammad (Kat), Arielle Prepetit (Naomi), and several other contract, recurring, and day player cast members on the newest CBS soap opera.
It seems like Ted’s storyline will be central to the upcoming weeks and months, so it will be interesting to see Robinson take over for Johnson. What do you think about this recast? What do you think is going on with Ted and Nicole? Let us know in the comments below.
