Beyond The Gates premieres on February 24, and the new CBS soap revealed that soap veterans and Daytime Emmy winner Cady McClain and Daytime Emmy nominee Jon Lindstrom will guest star in the new series.

Soap Vets Guest Star

McClain and Lindstrom join the excellent cast of BTG as the soap makes its historic debut. These daytime veterans have a lot of experience to add to the storylines of the newest daytime drama. McClain portrays Pamela Curtis, and Lindstrom portrays Joey Armstrong.

During a Zoom press conference, series creator, executive producer, and showrunner Michele Val Jean announced the news. “I finally know the meaning of chomping at the bit because I’ve been so excited to share what we’re about to reveal. It’s my honor, my privilege, my joy to introduce our newest cast members, who are not only soap opera icons and brilliant actors, but two of my favorite people on the planet,” she told reporters.

McClain gave a hint about Pamela. She said Pamela and Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) “play very, very…dear old friends, and we get up to a bit of trouble.”

McClain’s casting on BTG represents a return to CBS for her. Most recently, McClain has appeared on daytime television as Jennifer Deveraux on Days of our Lives. Before that, she was Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless. Of course, many soap fans know her as Dixie Cooney Martin from the now-defunct All My Children. She portrayed Rosanna Cabot on As The World Turns.

As for Lindstrom, he, too, is returning to CBS. Fans know him as Kevin Collins and Ryan Chamberlain on General Hospital. He also has an uncredited appearance on DAYS as Jack Deveraux. On ATWT, Lindstrom portrayed Craig Montgomery. Additional daytime experience for Lindstrom includes roles on Generations and Santa Barbara.

During the press conference Lindstrom praised Val Jean as his favorite thing about joining the soap. “That’s about all I can say about that. Everybody knows that Michele is the best writer in the business.”

Linstrom also teased his new BTG character, describing Joey “as a bit of an entrepreneur in a kind way. Joey comes from the other side of the tracks,” Linstrom explained. “He has fought his way up in many ways, but he’s never lost his charm. But Joey runs a casino, which, if you’ve ever been inside a casino, you know a casino is kind of like what a bar is to an alcoholic. So, people can get into a lot of trouble around Joey, and Joey doesn’t like trouble. He knows how to end trouble, but he doesn’t like trouble.”

McClain and Lindstrom made headlines for their breakup last spring. The real-life soap couple was married on February 14, 2014, before they split about a decade later. However, their divorce did not keep them from taking the opportunity to guest star on BTG as part of the history-making soap opera—the first new daytime drama to debut in 25 years.

These two are sure to add to the absolutely amazing cast of BTG. We can’t wait to see how they interact with the Duprees of Fairmont Estates. McClain and Lidstrom join the hugely talented cast that includes Tamara Tunie (Anita), Clifton Davis (Vernon), Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole), and Mosley.
