There were some adorable moments in the Friday the 13th episode of Beyond the Gates. But there were also some very awkward moments. Let’s break down the chaos that also included Derek asking Ashley to marry him. Where did that come from?
The Awkward
Dani
Life is full of awkward moments, and the same goes for the folks who reside beyond the gates. At Kat (Colby Muhammad) and Chelsea’s new home base (Dani’s guest house), Dani (Karla Mosley) tripped her way into Tomas’s arms. It could have been super cringey, but Dani always knows how to survive moments like that. It was a fun way to get Tomas (Alex Alegria) and Dani in the same vicinity, and it allowed her to give Tomas an awkward shovel talk later. She loves Kat and she will protect her niece as if she were her daughter. So Tomas better watch himself. Do not cross the Duprees.
Dani was at the heart of multiple awkward moments, like when she walked in on Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) and Hayley (Marquita Goings) lying in a hospital bed together. She didn’t hastily back out of the room. Instead, she barrelled in and unleashed an update about Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and chastised Bill for already working. Dani was adorable, though, and Bill knew it.
Ashley and Derek
Ashley (Jen Jacob) worried that her big dinner with Derek (Ben Gavin) was going to turn into a big goodbye and an end to their relationship. That’s all she worries about. While she expected the anvil to drop on their relationship, Derek had the exact opposite thing in mind. These two are never on the same page!
Derek proposed to Ashley, and now we’re waiting for an answer. Will she say yes?
Andre
One of our favorite awkward moments had to be when Andre (Sean Freeman) accidentally barged into Dani’s guest house, wondering where Dani was. What was especially hilarious was Chelsea and Kat’s reaction to how the man felt so comfortable at Dani’s home. He even called her “woman.”
And now Kat and Chelsea know about Dani and Andre, and we are here for it. They were certainly not mad at the prospect of Dani with Ted’s (Keith D. Robinson) nephew, who isn’t family (which the show likes to make sure to mention a lot).

The Mysterious
So the mystery guy (Jason Vendryes), who works at the country club and is spying on Martin (Brandon Claybon), made a bold move. He got right behind the congressman and whispered in his ear: “Let’s see what color’s your money.”

Those words are a part of Martin’s nightmares, daymares, hallucinations, or whatever you want to call them. Needless to say, the words triggered the father of two. He was shook and he’s finally wanting to do something about it. He knows he’s keeping these things from his husband and only telling his mother half of the story. But it’s good that he’s finally wanting to face this particular demon head-on. Vernon (Clifton Davis), however, would be okay if his grandson would forget about all this.
Finally, Hayley included her alleged sonogram in the slide show she used to motivate Bill to take his PT seriously. Have we all changed our minds and think Hayley is not faking this pregnancy? Or do we need even more evidence to the contrary?
