Several Beyond the Gates characters faced a new opportunity in the Tuesday, April 22 episode. Should they say no, or should they rethink their options?

Anita Contemplates a Comeback

After Anita’s (Tamara Tunie) successful karaoke performance with Dani (Karla Mosley) and Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), a promoter wants to put Anita back up on stage for real. He talked about a live performance, and if she wanted, she could have her daughter and granddaughter up there with her as a nod to her girl group of yore, The Articulettes.

Like in Monday’s episode, when her family talked her into performing karaoke, Anita fought it. Her insecurities were back, and she was angry that Vernon (Clifton Davis) would talk her into this meeting. She even told him she was terrified—that she had left Anita Williams behind—and she was afraid she couldn’t conjure her up again.

Vernon supported her through her grumpy act, but in the end, she did listen to the guy. She didn’t give him an answer. But she will think about it. Right now, it feels like she’s leaning towards no. But should she say no? Nope. This is the perfect opportunity to have something for herself that makes her feel good and could reignite something inside of her. We hope she’ll say yes to the invite.

Dani Instantly Rejects Chelsea’s Offer

Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) has been angsting about asking her mom to be Chief Marketing Officer of her new company. She was in her head thinking about all the ways it could go wrong. She wanted something for herself and didn’t want her mom to do her momager thing and take control.

It was Kat’s (Colby Muhammad) idea, and they thought she would automatically say yes. But guess what? Dani said no. The audience knows that she and Pamela (Cady McClain) have talked about opening a modeling agency together. She may have said no because she wants something for herself and wants to make sure Chelsea has the opportunity to fly free.

Dani says no to Chelsea, but should she have? Well, in a perfect world, Kat and Chelsea could hire Dani as a consultant so she has a voice but isn’t around all the time. Ultimately, it’s a good thing that she said no. She has to live life for herself and not her no-good husband or her children, whom she would do anything for. Let’s see if she sticks to her guns on Wednesday’s episode.

Bill Makes Tomas an Offer He Can’t Refuse

Poor Tomas (Alex Alegria). He wants to work hard to become a partner at the law firm. Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) tells him he’s on the right track, but then drops a hella shady offer in Tomas’ lap. Of course, Bill doesn’t think it is, but it is. It involves Tomas joining the special board that has power over hiring practices. The board that will feature the three women who just settled for a million dollars plus a seat at the table.

Tomas is immediately conflicted. You can tell he wants to say no, but if he does, Bill will just give the terrible task to someone else who will benefit, and Tomas will be left behind. Tomas should say no, but he didn’t. If he is ambitious and wants to make a partner sooner rather than later, he has to say yes to Bill’s underhanded task.

Eva Needs to Shut Down Her Mother’s Plans

Eva’s (Ambyr Michelle) predicament is a bit different. She has to deal with her mother, who is out of control in her thirst for revenge against Ted (Maurice Johnson) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix). With the $50K Ted paid her to hightail it out of town, she’s buying luxury clothes. Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) even got her daughter a designer dress for Nicole and Ted’s anniversary party.

Eva must figure out how to say no to her mother’s plans. Leslie is getting more unhinged by the day, and she’s determined to blow up all of their lives at the party. She continues to throw one wig on after another and has no problem running into Nicole. Will she be able to wait for the big event?

Or will she let her secret slip before? Whatever is about to happen, Eva needs to figure out how to say no to her mother. Maybe she should do a preemptive reveal to mitigate the damage that could occur if the secret detonates at the anniversary party.
