The Duprees gathered together to fete Kat, who celebrated her birthday with family joy, a sarcastic takedown, and a rousing rendition of the birthday song. But a few other fireworks popped up during the Monday, April 14 episode of Beyond the Gates — starting with a late Hayley. Is BTG about to have its first major onscreen pregnancy?
Baby Talk
Hayley (Marquita Goings) had quite the news to drop in Bill’s lap while the Dupree family celebrated Kat (Colby Muhammad). She said she was late, which meant she could be pregnant. Bill’s first reaction wasn’t just shock. He seemed a little bit angry because, apparently, they talked about not having kids. This marriage was supposed to be the two of them living, loving, and traveling whenever they wanted.
But as they continued to talk, Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) seemed to wrap his head around the fact that there was a chance his new wife could be pregnant. Hayley insisted that she didn’t know the first thing about being a mother, which isn’t true. Sure, she didn’t grow up with parents, but she was around Bill, Dani (Karla Mosley), and their family. She saw how a family unit operated. Still, being scared or nervous about such a massive addition to your life is realistic.
However, Hayley also said that she may have missed a birth control pill or two over the last few months of drama over their wedding and everything dramatic that has happened since moving into Fairmont Crest and getting married. Can we trust that she’s on the up and up and that this was as much of a surprise to her as it was to Bill? Or is this a calculated move? She even mentioned what would happen if they had a boy, and Bill immediately perked up at the thought of having a boy after two daughters.

Birthday Baby
Ted (Maurice Johnson) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) threw a birthday for their little girl. The family gathered and celebrated her, told stories, drank fancy drinks, and sang to her. Kat even had time to trash an uninvited Eva (Ambyr Michelle), who happened to drop by during the party. The problem was Kat trashed her in front of Tomas (Alex Alegria), who had been establishing a nice rapport with Eva. He felt for her and thought Kat’s words to Eva were harsh. And they were, even though Kat was right about Eva being shady, at least to her family.
So, is Kat/Tomas/Eva growing into a true love triangle? Should Kat be worried about her burgeoning relationship with the attorney? Also, is Tomas the nice guy he’s making himself out to be? Or is he a player?

Dani Downer
Once again, Dani expressed an epiphany that Bill really loved Hayley and that she wasn’t just a trophy wife. We want to believe Dani, but she’s done this before, and it wasn’t true. After putting up a front at Kat’s birthday party, she went home and broke out the vodka bottle. Her drinking problem isn’t going anywhere, and if she continues to suffer in the confines of her own home, then she could get in real trouble.
What’s it going to take for Dani to get over Bill once and for all? And while Nicole sees the pain her sister is in, when will she — or someone — realize that Dani’s drinking may turn into a raging problem?

Naomi Calls the Showdown Off
What is going on with Naomi (Arielle Prepetit)? She saw her dad have a real health issue. And while he seems to be in denial about it, he did make a doctor’s appointment for a physical. This was enough to get her guilty conscience going. Bill was happy to see that Naomi cared about him after all and that she didn’t completely hate him. He saw this as a step forward and that someday they’d be the same father/daughter they were until this madness with Hayley.
At the end of the episode, however, Naomi showed up at her dad’s office again. This time, she announced in no uncertain terms that she told the women from the lawsuit that she could no longer represent them. So, the Naomi/Bill legal showdown could be coming to an end. What will Bill do? Will he accept his daughter stepping down from the case?
And what document did she hand him? Did the three women end up accepting Bill’s settlement offer?
