When faced with rejection or someone acting foolishly, Anita, Dani, and Samantha took the opportunity to stand their ground. In the Thursday, April 10 episode of Beyond the Gates, they also chose to get creative.
When Life Gives You Lemons Make Lemonade
Dani Dupree
Since BTG debuted in February, Dani (Karla Mosley) has gotten knocked down for one thing after another. Sometimes, it was of her own making, but it all stemmed from Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) shattering their family when he left Dani for Hayley (Marquita Goings). He married her and moved into a house beyond the gates.
On Thursday, Dani met a woman from the First Gen charity board. She called Dani to the country club for a very public meeting and proceeded to thank her for her services. But now that the fashion show was a huge success, they were removing her from the board for behavior that was unbecoming of somebody who should be a role model.
The fact that this charity was under Anita’s foundation didn’t matter to the woman at all. Now that Dani had raised all this money and coordinated a hugely profitable and high-profile event, they kicked her to the curb. They could have fired her right after Bill and Hayley’s wedding, where she pulled the gun on them. That would have been the right thing to do. But, alas, they chose to use her for her connections and her name one last time with the fashion show. So cold.
Bill and Hayley, who witnessed the whole exchange, rubbed it in Dani’s face and had the audacity to make it seem like Dani was now on Hayley’s level. Thankfully, Dani stood tall and didn’t back down. She said she already had plans for what she would do next. Who knows, she could be thinking about managing Samantha’s burgeoning modeling career or something else. But she didn’t get over-the-top dramatic. She held her own, and she was brilliant.

Anita Dupree
Meanwhile, Anita (Tamara Tunie) used Dani’s rejection to implement her own plan. After all, the First Gen charity board member, who seemed so righteous as she fired Dani, never even gave Anita a heads-up that this was happening. That was entirely done on purpose.
Anita basically killed First Gen and said she was going to launch a charity that did the same exact thing, and she would have Dani run it. She also said this woman could beg Dani for a job if First Gen suddenly went under. It was so cold but so satisfying to watch.

Samantha Richardson
Samantha (Najah Jackson) asked her dad and pops about being a model. It’s what she wanted to do, and while she was really excited about it, she did seem to have a healthy attitude about it, as in she wouldn’t drop out of school like Dani did back in the day. College may be another matter, but she knows there’s no way she could stop going to high school.
Martin (Brandon Claybon), of course, was the one she was most afraid to talk to about this. She knew he would be unreasonable. However, this was a big deal and should be researched, processed, and mulled over. Martin even went to Dani for advice. What was odd was when he got back home, he told Samantha that he couldn’t allow her to be a model. For a second, it seemed like he was warming to the idea. So it’s like he didn’t even listen to Smitty (Mike Manning) or Dani. He also knew that Samantha had turned to Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla). She wasn’t taking this on haphazardly.

Ultimately, Samantha called Chelsea up and lied to her. She said her parents didn’t forbid her, so she wanted to dive right in and ensure that Chelsea would be her manager. This may not end well, but at least Chelsea knows what to expect, pitfalls and all. The only worry is that she might be focused on her own transition from modeling into designing.
