For the last few weeks, Eva has worked her butt off coordinating Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party. Even though she knew that her mom’s revenge would threaten to turn that party into a nightmare of epic proportions. The time finally came. The anniversary kicked off smoothly until it didn’t. In the Thursday, May 1 episode of Beyond the Gates, Leslie crashed the celebration even though Eva did her best to try and prevent her mom from making a scene.
Deliver Eva from Leslie
Eva (Ambyr Michelle) tried to stop her mom, but the woman was a runaway train traveling at superhuman speeds. Nothing was going to stop her from having her moment. From Eva’s perspective, she wanted the truth to come out, but in a less spectacle-type way.
Because Ted (Maurice Johnson) had already accepted her, he and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) told her they didn’t want to lose her and would pay for her to get a degree in medical billing, accounting, and that kind of thing. Then, she would go to work for Ted’s practice. After all, Kat (Colby Muhammad) started her own business with Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla). She’ll eventually have to focus all her time on that. Eva could slip right in and take over managing the business end of things.

She felt that after telling Ted the truth, he would forgive her. And maybe he would. But that might not happen now that Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) is making sure the drama plays out publicly. The secret isn’t even out yet, but there’s no way Ted will accept Eva anytime soon. Because he will assume that, as Nicole’s assistant, she worked with Leslie to get the goods on them, to get their revenge.
At the club, Eva tried even harder to stop her mom. She locked her in the closet/storage room. But somehow the resourceful woman got out. And then, realizing her daughter had made her choice — Ted and Nicole over her — she locked Eva in the room and went to get things done. She had a plan to expose, humiliate, and destroy Ted and Nicole’s lives.
After Leslie made herself known, Eva tried to stop her again. Unfortunately, it was too late. What’s happening now was inevitable.

Eva could only stand there helplessly and wait for any punches coming her way in subsequent episodes. Ambyr Mitchell posted on her IG Stories that she has waited to play out the BTG story that airs Thursday, May 1, Friday, May 2, Monday, May 5, and Thursday, May 8, since she booked the role.
