In 2025, actress Daphnée Duplaix returns to daytime in the much-anticipated CBS drama Beyond the Gates. The soap alum first starred as Valerie Davis on NBC’s Passions and Rachel Gannon on ABC’s One Life to Live. Over the years, Duplaix has starred in numerous movies and TV shows.
The Early Days
Duplaix was born in New York City and is of Haitian (she even has a Haitian flag in her Instagram bio), French, and Italian descent. Many actors begin their careers in soaps. However, she racked up experience modeling and doing commercials. She was also a co-host of a music and pop culture series called One World Music Beat. It aired in syndication, and one of her fellow co-hosts was Kimora Lee Simmons.
Her early TV credits include forensic drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the sitcoms The Wayans Bros. and Half & Half, the primetime soap Malibu, CA, the Saturday morning teen series City Guys, and Joss Whedon’s vampire spinoff Angel.

Social Media Reveal
Duplaix recently got vulnerable on her Instagram when she featured a message about tough times and gratitude for being able to persevere through those tough times.
In her post she wrote, “Over the past two years, I was tested more than ever. I lost a lot, but I also won. I failed, I cried, I learned, and most importantly through it all, I loved.
My biggest lesson…I’m still here; I did not break. Every obstacle became an opportunity for growth. Every setback a lesson in perseverance and resilience. No matter the hurdles, keep moving forward.
To anyone facing struggles, remember: even in the toughest of times,, you are stronger than you realize. Keep pushing forward.
