In 2023, Brandon Claybon had a brief but memorable role on General Hospital. He played Brent Snyder, Curtis’s physical therapist. At the time, it was his job to help Curtis walk again after he was shot at the Metro Court. In 2025, the actor can be seen on daytime once again. He has a substantial and powerful role in the upcoming CBS daytime drama Beyond the Gates.
The Early Days
Claybon is originally from Oakland, Tennessee, just outside of Memphis. Before he became an actor, he modeled all over the U.S.. Now, he’s a working actor who has starred in over 40 national commercials and guest-starred in several TV shows.
The Host with the Most
According to Claybon’s bio, he was an entertainment host for BET.com, where he interviewed celebrities like Queen Latifah, Samuel L. Jackson, Halle Berry, Kelsey Grammer, and Djimon Hounsou.
However, during the pandemic, he created a digital YouTube talk show. In the series, he chatted with “Hollywood’s most promising actors who’ve just had their first major break in the industry.”
Go-To Guest Star
Over the last few years, Claybon has racked up an impressive list of guest-star spots. Earlier this season, he appeared in the second episode of Grey’s Anatomy‘s 20th season. His other TV credits include Tyler Perry’s Zatima, 911, S.W.A.T., Shameless, and The Neighborhood.”
Here’s his clip from 911. It’s a pretty harrowing emergency…for his character’s wife.
Playing a Politician
When the LA-based actor learned he was cast in Beyond the Gates, he obviously was ecstatic and emotional. On Instagram, he wrote, “What an amazing birthday gift!!! Looking forward to this new era and can’t wait until you all see #beyondthegates. Thank you to my family, friends, and team for their continued support throughout the years. I don’t think I ever cried this much in my life…I’m gonna miss you all so much. But I’ll see you soon on @cbstv 😉. Let’s GOOOOOOoOOo!!!! 🙌🏾🙏🏾🖤”
On BTG, Claybon is set to play Martin Richardson, son of Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnée Duplaixx) and Ted Richardson (Maurice Johnson). Martin is a congressman who lives outside “the gates” in a brownstone in Washington, D.C., with his husband and two adopted children. Following his grandfather’s path into politics, he has ambitions to be the first openly gay Black President.
However, in a soap opera, there are often twists and turns on the way to achieving one’s intended goals. And many times, people veer off their intended paths for one reason or another. For reasons they may not even control.
We’ll see what obstacles stand in between Martin Richardson and the White House when Beyond The Gates premieres on CBS on February 24, 2025, at 2 pm ET / 1 pm CT.
