What You Should Know About Beyond the Gates’ Ambyr Michelle

Ambyr Michelle is an actress and filmmaker. When she’s not appearing on shows like FX’s Snowfall and HBO’s Insecure, she prides herself on being a storyteller. As a result, the daytime newbie does not wait for the work to come to her; instead, she will create it from beginning to end. And now, she’s about to experience life on a bigger stage, that of CBS Daytime playing Eva Thomas on Beyond the Gates.

Creative Mindset

Ambyr is from Omaha, Nebraska, but now lives in Los Angeles. She is a trained dancer and a graduate of the Performing Arts program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

In an interview with Shoutout LA, she gave insight into how proactive she is with her career. “I got to where I am today by actually doing the work, writing myself roles that the film industry wasn’t displaying.” Once the script is ready, it’s go time. “I call on my amazing team, who just wants to create as well, and we make magic.”

The Story Teller

Her short films have gotten festival and award recognition. Her first one, Right Where You Need To Be, which she wrote, produced, and starred in, won Best Drama at the Festigious International Film Festival. This was a monthly film festival that hoped to accomplish two things: 1) To promote indie filmmakers worldwide and 2) To achieve gender equality in filmmaking.

Later, she wrote, directed, and produced her first feature film, Little Reminders, which streams on Peacock TV and Tubi, and is available to rent or buy on Prime Video. Plus, she has another short film in her roster of original creations that’s called The Little Girl Inside.

Her TV Work

So far, Michelle has appeared in shows with proven entities like Issa Rae’s Insecure, Kenya Barris’s #BlackAF, and the late John Singleton’s series Snowfall, which aired on FX. In an Instagram post, she wrote about getting Snowfall. “I was blessed to meet @johnsingleton within 6months of living in LA. 2 years later, I was blessed with booking the role of Eureka on his show @snowfallfx . Thanks for having me. This is just the beginning. God First🤞🏽🙏🏽🙌🏽

The actress has a bit of a daytime connection going for her as well. She appears in multiple episodes of the upcoming Prime Video series The Runarounds, about a high school band that graduates and attempts to achieve fame and success in the music industry. One of the leads on the show is GH alum William Lipton (Cameron Webber).

Beyond the Gates Excitement

Michelle appreciates what it means to be part of the BTG family. She understands the significance. In an Instagram message that she posted on Halloween, “The fact that I get to be a part of HISTORY by joining this ground-breaking series is just… WOW. 🥹,”

Look for Michelle to play Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson’s (Daphnée Duplaix) new assistant. According to CBS, Eva Thomas vibrates with intensity and purpose. She is determined to right a grievous wrong done to her mother as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
