The Beyond the Gates hype machine is revving up for the premiere of the newest broadcast network soap in over 25 years. It’s the new year, which means the series debuts in roughly a month and a half. If you haven’t heard yet, the wealthy Black family at the heart of the upcoming daytime drama is the Duprees. And the actors who play them recently graced the world with their presence in a fun way.

Introduction and Congratulations

A special message aired during the recent announcement of the 56th NAACP Image Awards nominations. The actors who play the Duprees on Beyond the Gates took the opportunity to introduce themselves and their characters and simultaneously congratulated all those nominated for the 2025 celebration. In the video, Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Daphnée Duplaix, and Karla Mosley made their intros.

“We are so excited for each and every one of you and can’t wait to celebrate with you. We’re the cast of the new CBS daytime drama, Beyond the Gates,” started Tunie, best known for her iconic role as Dr. Melinda Warner on NBC’s iconic procedural Law & Order SVU. “I’m Tamara Tunie, and I play the fabulous matriarch of the family, Anita Dupree.

“I’m Clifton Davis, and I play the patriarch of the family, Vernon Dupree,” followed Davis, famous for his roles on the hit sitcom Amen as well as Billions and Blue Bloods. Then came the actresses who play their daughters. “I’m Daphnée Duplaix, and I play the eldest daughter in the show, Dr Nicole Dupree Richardson,” the One Life to Live alum added. Then it was Mosley’s turn, “I’m Karla Mosley. I play the youngest daughter, Dani Dupree.”

The Bold and the Beautiful alum continued by reminding everyone about the premiere date for the Gates. “Our show premieres next month on Monday, February 24 on CBS, just a couple of days after the 56th NAACP Image Awards, which air live on BET.”

It was up to Davis to explain who the Duprees are in the grand scheme of the new soap. “We are a powerful multi-generational family. That is the very definition of Black royalty.”

NAACP Image Awards

The message coincided with the announcement of the nominees for the upcoming NAACP Image Awards, which air live on February 22. The Image Awards celebrate Black excellence and honor outstanding performances in the worlds of TV, movies, music, and more.

Meanwhile, Beyond the Gates is developed and produced by CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Sheila Ducksworth, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. Paramount Global Content Distribution distributes the series, and Michele Val Jean is an executive producer and the show’s head writer. The groundbreaking soap premieres on CBS on February 24, 2025, at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT.
