When Nikki found out about the role Victor played both in Adam’s death and Chloe’s downfall on The Young and the Restless (YR), she’d had enough of her husband.

She wanted to end the marriage, but then Victor (Eric Braeden) reminded her of the good of the company – surely, nothing is more important than that.

So Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) agreed to keep up public appearances, as long as she and Victor could have an open marriage.

Victor, who was never too keen on the fidelity thing to begin with, agreed. He was happy to take a mistress, Helen the Chemist. He was less happy to figure out that Nikki was slumming it with Arturo the Contractor (Jason Canela).

Nikki remembered how much she loved Victor during his health crises – of course, she did; comas erase all past soap sins, always – and the pair agreed to dump their (in)significant others…for now.

Nobody addressed resetting their agreement for the long run. But should they? Here’s what almost 8,000 shippers had to say:

[Reunited And It Feels So Good!
Victor and Nikki are constantly breaking up, marrying other people – usually Abbott siblings Jack (Joshua Morrow) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) – or inappropriately younger spouses – and then getting back together, 89% of you remind.

This is just another hiccup on that very well-traveled road. Nikki will forgive Victor sooner or later, Victor will swear to change his ways, and then the whole cycle will begin all over again. Why fight it?

Stay the Course
But for 11% of the audience, this was a new and fun wrinkle to the never-ending saga. Nikki isn’t Victor’s doormat anymore. She is going out and finding her own fun, and not caring what her Lord and Master thinks about it. This is a Nikki you want to see more of.

The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
