Over the weekend, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) bad boy Vincent Irizarry (Deimos) showed how good he could be by helping the DeBartolo Family Foundation benefit those in need.

According to its website, the DeBartolo Family Foundation has given hope to many less fortunate individuals and groups in the Tampa Bay area and beyond since 2001. Actors William deVry (Julian, General Hospital) and Rebecca Staab (ex-Elizabeth Barrington, Port Charles) also attended.

However, it wasn’t all work and no play for the handsome actor. Irizarry got to enjoy the Tampa Bay, Florida weather and sit by the pool, reading Agnes Nixon’s book, My Life to Live.

He also took the time to share with Soap Hub his feelings about this latest Emmy nomination.

(Irizarry was nominated for his role on Guiding Light in 1986 and twice during his stint on All My Children – 2002 and 2009, the year he finally won).

“Not only is it an honor to be numbered alongside the other talented actors in the category, but also to be recognized by one’s peers for your work.”

While his DAYS character takes his life (and others’ deaths) very seriously, Irizarry showed that he has a good sense of humor about it all.

“I’m also happy misunderstood and taken for granted Deimos is being recognized as well,” he laughed.

Check out the pictures of the exciting weekend he shared from his weekend in the slideshow below, including seeing Tony Bennett perform and a few of the celebrities he encountered.
